This is an excellent Kremlin. I strongly recommend to everybody who is traveling from Moscow to Yaroslavl to stop in Rostov and see the Kremlin. Great Russian civilian and religious architecture. Many interesting stories associated with place. be sure to walk by galleries, unfortunately they are closed in winter months, though.

It's a wonderful and a must to visit place in summer or winter, it doesn't matter. You can just walk there, or visit any of the museums or churches. In winter there is a small place for skating! :)

Rostov is one of Russia's oldest city. The Kremlin is a must see, there is so much to see inside. Visited the churches, museum. There are bell towers and it was lovely to hear the bells. Very few visitors, great photo opportunities. You are surrounded by so much history. Great Restaurant. As a group, we ordered our lunch on arrival... More

The Rostov Kremlin really is an amazing place to visit. Every corner reveals views that are a photographer's dream. An a capella performance in one of the churches and the beautiful bells were an added bonus. There were one or two minor niggles, however, though not enough to spoil our visit. Why do you have to buy separate tickets for... More

If you are interested in early Russian religious art, run to this museum. It has a rare collection of 15th and 16th century icons from the Golden Age of Russian icon painting. While no Rublev or Theofanes the Greek to be found here, an excellent set of icons is displayed which can be absorbed at peace and quiet. Not many... More

Just the visit to the Rostov Kremlin will make worth the trip to Rostov. It has been recently thoroughly restored. I had a chance to visit several churches inside with beautiful frescoes, walk on the walls on the Kremlin and watch the video about the tornado that hit the Kremlin in 1953.

there is something very cozy and peaceful about this Kremlin. It also has a good restaurant and a couple of nice attractions like a bell tower and a small museum on icon making. What makes it even more interesting, is its history of natural disaster. Well worth the day trip!

Rostov is a fun weekend getaway, and my wife and I went there for a day when we lived in Moscow. Small and quiet town away from crowds, and this Kremlin is definitely the main attraction that makes it well worth the trip. I've visited a few medieval castles across Europe, and this one is among the most beautiful. Kind... More

A historic place worth seeing. A guide is also a must if you want to know more about the Kremlin's history.
