Tsarsko Selo (Tsar Village) is a Royal complex Peter the Great built for his wife Catherine I, later enlarged and lavishly decorated by Catherine II (the Great).
It consists of a breathtaking Palace, terrific gardens with lakes, Hermitage pavilion, a Mosque, monuments across the park,...etc.
It's located further south of St. Pet airport and you can reach it by taxi (make sure you have the Yandex app installed) which will take around 45-60 min depending on the traffic, or via the train from St, Pet.
The area is huge and beautiful to explore, so count on at least half a day for visit.

Not my first visit and every time I am impressed. Love everything about it. Landscapes, architecture, all so nice. In one day you will see so many different styles of architecture and so many beautiful stunning places. I will visit it once again.

The palace is amazing from inside and outside. However the place is extremely busy and you loose every sense of enjoyment. Consider avoiding cloakrooms and restrooms.

We only allowed 3 hours which was a mistake because Catherine's Palace is so vast it is barely enough. We were lucky the crowds had gone because of the coronavirus scare and it was all very quiet. The architecture is just gorgeous and well worth returning several times provided it is a quiet day otherwise standing in line for 3 hours to get in is out of the question. The park was wintery and the canals were frozen but we could imagine its beauty in summer. Magnificent.

If you in St. Petersburg, please visit Tsarskoe selo home of Romanov dynasty during summer time. I can't even describe how much Russian Empire history is inside that place. You need to visit to appreciate. D

Entry to the park is 150 rubles. You have to go in the park to enter the palace. Lots of grounds to explore, everything changes with the seasons

Located in town of Pushkin about half of hour drive from St. Petersbourgh is this large summer palace built from Peter the Great as a gift to his wife when she brought him a daughter and heir Elisabetha Petrovna future tsarina. Expanded by Catherine II the Great with its lovely architecture, nice floors and ceilings, large rooms, beautiful views on gardens and famous precios amber room gift of prussian king is one of must seen sights in this area.

Beautiful palace whose highlights are the Amber room and the garden around the buildings. Unfortunately my visit took place in December so I could only appreciate the interiors as it was snowing outside and a long walk in the garden was out of the table. Ideally not to be visited during the weekend as it gets quite crowded because of the many tours.
last comment, easy to reach even by public transportation (metro + bus).

For me, the highlight of the Tsarskoye Selo Palace was the Amber Room, even though it's a reconstruction to replace the original, stolen by the German occupiers during World War II, and which subsequently disappeared. The mystery that surrounds the disappearance added to the beauty of that glorious room.
There are many other ornate, gilded, mirrored rooms, making this palace a must-see.

This beautiful building is in the lower part of the Tsarkoye Selo gardens and a real gem. Unfortunately the video is only in Russian which is shown to visitors after entering the place. But apart from that, it is a must visit

Puoi provare.

how long does it take to get to the Pushkin Museum and Grounds and tour the sight?
Neil B
Moscow, Russia88 contributions
The drive from Saint Petersburg takes about 45-50 mins straight down the Moscow Prospect until you turn off for Pushkin.
As for how long it takes to tour the the palace and grounds? That is entirely up to you, we did it in about 3hrs but we didn't spend much time in the grounds as it was winter. You could stay all day if you wanted too.
I hope this is of some help to you.
