- Lexi S5 contributionsSo beautiful!A beautiful beach with plenty of chairs and umbrellas to rent. The water is clear with gentle waves and lovely sand. I wish we could have stayed for many more days to keep going to this beach!Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 June 2024
- SunseekerLondon, United Kingdom481 contributionsQuick bus ride from Choraent in June 2024, one day was baking hot, beautiful blue water and soft deep sand, lots of pretty sun beds to rent and plenty of places to eat. The same week on a different day is was quite breezy, the seas had an icy chill to it. You do not have t eat in the restaurants to rent the beds but they charge you more if you don't buy food. Avoid the place called Virtu with all the crochet/rope umbrellas, unless you want to pay 30 euros for a set. There are far fairer prices on the strip, 15-20 euros. We got a nice comfortable front row bed for 20 euros.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 June 2024
- Matthew S1 contributionSmooth sand and crystal clear waterI'm not sure why the Trip Advisor picture for this beautiful sandy beach shows rocks, but the beach is long, sandy, and filled with umbrellas. It has the clearest, cleanest feeling water I've ever swum in. The smooth sandy bottom extends into the water. The water is pretty calm and we bought pool noodles in town which were fun to float on. The chair umbrella sets are run by each of the restaurants across the street from the beach. You can book ahead if you are dead set on a particular place. We showed up and found chairs at Kahlua. The food/drink service was excellent, because they place the order electronically and runners bring your food/drink order promptly. I also got a nice 25 euro massage from one on the Asian women offering massages. In the middle of the beach, several hundred yards from the main access end, there's a large gap in the chairs before they start up again and extend towards the other end of the beach, so you need to bring your own chair or towel. But you don't need a bathing suit. There's ample social distancing and I highly recommend giving it a try, even for a few minutes. I found it very freeing, but be prepared for clothed beachgoers walking past and trying not to look every minute or so. There's a few other gaps where you can throw down a towel for free.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 July 2024
- Chris WRugby, United Kingdom47 contributionsBeautiful BeachFantastic beautiful clean beach with crystal clear sea which is excellent to swim in. Ideal for families with children. The beach does get busy but there are places to sun bathe if you don't want to use a sun bed. I take the point from previous contributors about the price of sun beds. Some are expensive however if you walk to the far end of the beach we found 2 beds and an umbrella for 15 euros. We'll worth it on this amazing beach.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 September 2024
- Lori MCalifornia2,005 contributionslow key and pretty with lots of restaurants in walking distancegreat little beach and town! tons of hotels and restaurants plus stores to buy anything you need. the scenery was really pretty and the narrow beach made it easy to get from water to your chair. the road is a bit busy so be careful - but otherwise very easy to walk around. low key and relaxing. I wish the water was a little warmer but most people thought it was perfect. the sand was soft.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 September 2024

Beautiful sand, crystal clear Aegean Sea, perfect for swimming and sunbathing, with an excellent selection of small shops, bars and restaurants adjacent.
Sun beds were reasonable at €6 for 2 plus parasol per day (prices along the beach went as high as €10).
The highlight, however, are the sunsets. Truly spectacular. We fell in love with Agious Prokopios...

Clear water with a beautiful view. There is a lot of restairants and bars with variety of cousines nearby. The beach has a lot of reasonably priced umbrellas, and there is often an option to order straight to your place. The sand is typical Greek small stones, but more on the softer side so it doesn't hurt your feet to walk on it barefoot. Definitely coming back to this place :)

3 years on and numerous beautiful Greek islands after, Agios Prokopios still remains the number one beach for me.
It is massive so it doesn't get overcrowded, the water is still this amazingly light blue colour and it still feels so soft. The sand is still like brown sugar, soft to walk but it doesn't fly when it gets windy. The view towards Paros is still pretty, even the view towards the back is nice!
I don't tend to go back to the same island unless it is exceptional but I had to go back to Naxos simply to go to Agios Prokopios beach.

This used to be the best beach in Naxos, but now a family of 4 cannot spend a day without also spending at least 50 euros. 95% of the surface of the beach is covered by sunbeds that cost 15-25 euros the set of 2 (in July, no idea how that escalates in August), and of course you have waiters pestering you every 20-30 minutes to get an order they seem to think is obligatory, even if you have already paid for the sunbeds. Meanwhile, the sunbeds are so close, there is hardly any space to move your own if let's say you want to get or avoid the sun. The only space left for people who do not want to pay to be crammed like this is at the right end of the beach where you get more space between different sets of sunbeds. It was OK in the beginning of July, but I bet it will be difficult to find a place to leave your stuff in the busiest months.
This is my second time visiting Naxos; the first was 15 years ago and I was sad to see that the people there have since adopted the "grab the tourist money" mentality that had ruined so many Greek islands before Naxos.

The water is crystal clear, it’s deep enough and super cold on a hot Greek summers day . The beach is large for Greek islands and has many sun beds/ umbrella options with social distancing, prices vary from place to place but the average is 10 euro per set for 2 people . I loved the location and restaurants nearby . Bus stop right there and easy access to town .

It would be a 3.5 to be more fair but definitely is not even a 4. The beach is beautiful, the water is as clear as it gets and there is the best quality of sand (the thick one that doesn't stick and is really easy to get off of you). However, (ok maybe it's just me being weird), weather is really windy most of the time, which for me is problem, the water is really very cold and the worst thing is that most of the beach is occupied by sun beds that are charged in quite expensive prices without including any beverages. So free spots on the beach are challenging to find, but truth is that it is a quite large beach and until mid July someone can easily get a spot. I wouldn't know if this stands for the high season as well, but I wouldn't be optimistic about it. If you don't mind the above and you choose to try it I am wishing best of luck to everyone!

Wonderful beach with azure waters. Sand is grainy and clean
It is a long, scenic beach with different types of loungers and umbrellas, so you can pick what you like.
The stretch of beach is lined up with a really nice selection of restaurants for food and drinks at your service. Typical set of two loungers and an umbrella is 10-20 Euro for the day
Nice family setting closer to the bus stop, other types of setting further down, something for everyone

Hi can you buy deckchairs? If yes where from? Are you allowed to put your own deckchairs and umbrella on the beach?
Thank you

Salve,
a luglio alloggerò al Seaclub Naxos Grand, è vicino a questa spiaggia (Agios Prokopios)?
C'è qualche doccia? (in spiaggia intendo)

Is there a nude section here on this beach
Written 27 July 2023
No!! This id a beach 90% covered by (pricey) sunbeds and umbrellas, and the small space left uncovered is taken over by families and elderly people, mostly.
However, up until a few years ago there used to be a nudist section at Plaka Beach, pretty close to Agios Prokopios. But I haven't been there this year, so I can't guarantee things have not changed.

Chus

Is Agios Prokopios beach too close to the airport? Do you hear airplane noise? Thank you in advance!
Written 3 June 2019
No. It is 3-4 miles. It is a very small airport with a short runway which takes planes carrying up to about 50 passengers. There are not many flights per day.

I am traveling to Naxos with my family in early July of 2020. We are leaning toward staying in Agios Prokopios because we want to be close to a beautiful beach by day and we will take the bus in the evening into Naxos Town for dinner and activity. I have read a few reviews that there is a bad smell at this beach and that the water is freezing cold. Is this smell common at this beach and is it at a certain end of the beach? We are leaning toward Liana Hotel which is at the end closest to Agia Anna Beach. I am also considering Ariadne Hotel. Also, is the water always cold in the summer here? Are Agia Anna and Plaka Beach warmer? I have a 13 year old and thought this beach area would offer more activity which she would like as opposed to a more secluded beach. I ruled out St. George Beach because although convenient to town, I think that I would find it too busy and crowded and the sand and water doesn't seem quite as pretty as Agios Prokopios. Thank you in advance for your insights.

I also recommend Perla it's 50 mtr from super market and close to the beach, 5 minutes by walk. Has a wonderful pool ask them to give you a room with view to the sea. Also you can prepare your meal in the room. Outside the reception is a bus stop you can take easily the bus and go to Agia Anna or Plaka or Chora. If you ask me Agios Prokopis has the best beach in the island with lifequard umbrellas and sea beds

If my wife and I rent a pair of sunbedss and wanted to take a watch down the beach or go swimming what do we do with our money/credit card/identification?
Written 20 June 2018
We didn't notice any lockers or safe place to keep our belongings at the beach itself. I would leave anything of value, aside from a bit of cash, in the hotel safe.

Is it easy to take the bus to Agios Prokopios Beach
Wondering if it is that much better compared to St George beach in Naxos town
Written 8 June 2018
Yes it’s easy - generally on time
1 every 30 mins
1.80 a trip - buy your ticket before boarding the bus (supermarkets sell tickets)
