We visited Reichenstein Castle because it was once owned by someone with my maiden name. We thought it would be a fun castle to visit for that reason. We enjoyed the grounds and inside of the castle. The interior is quite beautiful. There's a lot of knight armour to look at and antlers hung on the walls. We really enjoyed... More

Although not as 'old' as I usually prefer, the castle was gorgeous and beautifully maintained. 5 euro to tour on your own. A slight uphill walk from the town of Bingen. They allow photos. Some of the castles do not. The view of the Rhine River from the top parapet was simply amazing. The library room was the highlight of... More

This old castle is in superb condition - the museum is located in the main castle residence over 3 stories of exhibits. Expect to spend at least an hour exploring the place, it will be of interest to anyone interested in 17-18th Century living & history. There's also a great restaurant where you can have lunch, dinner or an afternoon... More

Very nice castle located above the Rhine river, the outside walls and buildings are well renovated. The inside is somewhat too much renovated for my taste. It was done in the 19th century and is not matching as well the outside. Large collection of game trophies and wood ovens all over the rooms. Well furnished rooms.

While on our Vantage River Cruise, we sailed by this castle on the Rhine River near the village of Trechtingshausen. From our vantage point we definitely had a great view of this castle sitting high above the river. I had to find out a bit more about it. The castle dates back to at least 1213, but has survived through... More

Worth cable car ride. Not scary we were lucky enough to have a choir entertaining at top. Lovely view of surroundings.

I really enjoyed this castle! Visited on a Thursday afternoon, so there weren't many people there. It's quite picturesque and well-maintained. You can pretty much go wherever you want on the castle grounds and take pictures of anything. Climbing to the top of one of the towers was pretty cool. The views over the Rhine river were fantastic. The staff... More

This castle was amazing! We all agreed that it will become a very popular stop off in the Rhine region now that there is a fantastic restaurant in place and a lot of restoration has taken place. It's completely worth a stop! I'm SO happy we included this castle in our day! During a couple of days on the Rhine,... More

The oldest sections of the central castle were constructed in the early 11th century, 1,000 years ago. There has been a lot of destruction and rebuilding since then. More than one robber knight operated out of the castle, robbing traveling merchants and ships. The castle changed hands many times and was attacked and laid siege to as well. Inside there... More
