Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Starving baby pigs at the car park, long and VERY dusty way down to the beach. A lot of rubbish on the way down. We paid 20 euro for dirty sunbed at the front of the water, SEO bar restaurant is a joke, photos attached. We also ordered two sets of fries but we never got them, we just got bill for them. We were not charged at the end. What you see on the photo are grilled veg and meatballs. The way up was a real nightmare! I nearly died. Hot, dusty, dirty and long way up. Never again. The only good thing is that I gave some water to those piglets and some bread that I took from restaurant down. Animals in Albania is a horror that I will never forget!!!

First things first: the road is not as bad as it was described. From the main road, you need to drive about 2.5 km in a single-line road, but there are several stopping places in case you meet cars along the way. After that, there is a huge parking lot (which costs 300 lek - 3 euros) where you can park your car. Then you can either walk about 30/35 minutes down the road, which is very rocky but manageable (not at as hard as it was described) or you can drive a 4x4 down to the beach (which I believe is harder thank walking).
We went in April so there were like 15 people down at the beach and there was only one bar which had beverages. I recommend to bring your own food if you go during low-season. The water was really cold, but again, we went at the end of April. I would 100% go there again.

A lovely beach at the mouth of an impressive gorge. Unfortunately it is at the end of a 30 minute trek down from filthy car park, with the whole route strewn with plastic bottles and beer cans. The beach was little better. Sadly it seems that locals and visitors alike are determined to spoil all these Albanian beauty spots with their selfishness!

Went to this beach as I heard it was a hidden gem, well maybe 5yrs ago it was.
Went by car and it’s a single paved road with passing places (not enough of them) down to the car park. You park up and pay 3lek then you got a 30 min walk over a unpaved track to get to the beach.
You finally get to the beach and the whole beach is taken by loungers, if like me you just wanna sit on a beach towel in your own little space then your be disappointed.
The beach isn’t even sand it’s crushed pebbles.
The rubbish is piled in corners which is awful.
There are a couple of bars to get drinks….
Safe to say this beach is no longer a hidden gem.

We were staying in Himare and decided to go on a day trip to Gjipe beach. First we thought we should go by taxi boat but then realized that you can get pretty close to the beach by car. It was a 40min drive from Himare and the last 3km were down a street wide enough for one car only, so that was a bit stressful. However, there are spots along the road to pull into if a car is coming from the opposite direction. On the way down (around 8 am) we didn't pass any cars. However, on the way back (around noon) we passed 10. The parking lot is big and there's some shade. You need to pay in cash and the price is broken down based on how many hours you will stay. We paid 300 lek for the few hours we were there. The hike from the parking lot to the beach is around 20-30 mins and it's easier to wear sneakers because.
The beach itself was nice, there was garbage but not as much as I saw written in previous reviews and we spent a nice few hours there before the tourists started pouring in from 10 onwards.

We have visited Gjipe by car + walk. Walk is ok.. around 35min. The beach is full of camping tents and campers. If you enjoy laying next to pans, frying pans and etc.. you will appreciate. There is even a washing machine on the beach 👀

Far away from the pictures,
20€ for an umbrella and 2 rubbish seat
10€ for à umbrella alone

Lots of rubbish on the beach.

The walk to there is nice, but expect this, the beach itself is not better than the other.
Not talking about the people there

My husband and I walked from our hotel near Dhermi to the Gjipe beach, along the road, then down a trail to the car park before getting the rocky road down to the beach. The beach itself is stunning with crystal waters and a feeling of being secluded. There were not many tourists when we were there, albeit a rowdier group arrived by boat just before we left. However we thoroughly enjoyed swimming, exploring the caves and soaking up the sunshine as we lay on the pebbly beach. The path down to the beach is quite steep and requires adequate footwear. It takes about 30 mins if you stop to photograph the 6+ bunkers along the right hand side of the path. Overall, the walk from Dhermi and back took 4+ hours and was quite exhausting but we would recommend visiting this beach if you are able to drive to the car park or access the beach by boat!

A beautiful beach - once. Because now it is trashed with huts that play loud party music and heaps of garbage in the canyon. There are tires, matrasses, barrels, plastic cans,... it is truly heartbreaking. The hike from the parking lot at the canyon rim is beautiful though. It is steep but has great views. Park at P1 (it is free of charge and the trail from there has more and better views than from P2). Do NOT drive all the way down to the seashore unless you have a true off-road car. The "road" from P2 on is... well... it is basically huge rocks and mud. We loved the view and the hike but we would not return before the horrible garbage problem is solved.
