It is only 40 km away from Agra and for sure a must to visit. Very easy to visit Taj in the morning and then to go to Fatehpur. 2 hours needed on place to look around. The place is untouched by the time, unbelievable. Only habited for 14 years then abandoned. Beautiful example of art, stone sculpture and Persian-Hindu... More

Panch Mahal is a beautiful palace. Another striking and intriguing construction. Is the central building of the abandoned city Fatehpur Sikri. A 5-storey Palace where the emperor's women lived. Be accompanied by a guide to know the history of all the buildings of Fatehpur Sikri - a whole city to discover

My wife and I visited Fatehpur Sikri en route from Ranthambore to Agra during a tour of northern India. The ghost city is the former imperial capital of the Mughal Empire and is located about 45 km west of Agra. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Panch Mahal is one of several impressive palaces within the complex. It was... More

Panch Mahal symbolises tolerance, vision and its deployment by King Akbar. The five floors are a symbol of respect of individual identities and it is evident that the rein of King Akbar Kingdom was a flourishing one. Spend some time there. Beware of Tourist guides and street hawkers. Expensive - not worth it. Unless you have a good guide, you... More

This city has so many buildings and places of interest within it. The city - built by Akbar - is a memorial to this man's wealth and vision. The buildings, paving, courts and palace rooms looked as if they were vacated last week. It is well maintained and is a rich and fascinating place to visit

Fatehpur Sikri will take a good amount of time to visit from Agra, and we took a taxi for the same. The old city built by Akbar, is located on a small hill, and we took the CNG powered Government van uphill, for a small fee. You can climb up, but it was too hot in September. Fatehpur (the mosque)... More

This five tiered masterpiece in grace is a palace for the ladies. Fatehpur Sikri throws together eclectics from across the empire. Rosy sandstone with its vanilla flecks and ripples blends random styles into harmony.

Everyone goes to the Taj Mahal (and should once) but this deserted red stone city is much nicer to visit. Not crowded, huge, great architecture!

Don't be put off by the fact that it's been rebuilt because it's been done rally well to match the original. Very spectacular and vast. Well worth a visit. Allow a good hour and half at least to see it all. Be warned if you go around near the mosque you will be confronted by aggressive sellers- you will need... More

Get a guide to explain the ghost city. Very interesting site with huge buildings throughout site. Need an explanation of the site, do not just visit and wander around reading placards.
