Have passed this place numerous times on the way to the casino. It speaks well to the pioneer life in the area and the locals take pride in telling their story to each visitor to this place. It is well researched and care is given to showing off items that are of historic value. Out back there are examples of... More

We arrived in the early afternoon on a weekday, and the museum is located east of Port Perry (a two minute drive). The main building is staffed by two people, and they offered a guided tour if we so desired (we opted for a self guided tour). The large room at the office entrance area, is a treat in itself,... This is a great little pioneer village for a small town. There are about 10 small buildings that give a great representation of early colonial lifestyle in a rural setting. The price is excellent for the value ($2 per person) just make sure they are open before going. The staff are very friendly and informative but there are usually only... More

My son and daughter in law held their wedding at the Scugog Shores and it was wonderful. The 155 year old Church on the premises was intimate and cozy for the 55 guests in attendance. The tea room was an added bonus, which was used for serving light munchies for the guests between the wedding and reception that was held... More

This is a great museum for a small town. It is tucked away in the community center so its a bit hard to find but its worth the effort to find it.

A small but historically rich museum of the local area. The main building has quite a few unique items but it is the heritage village that holds the true excitement

An amazing though small history-in-action museum. Well placed, at the first intersection on Scugog Island, just East of Port Perry. Interesting and unusual artifacts - some complete sets that you won't even see in larger museums! We happened upon it by chance and thoroughly enjoyed it all - not just buildings and every-day things but native plants, walks, carvings, cemetery;... More
