Lots of random items ordered into groups to give a feel of life in Stonehaven through the ages. Some areas really work well. There is something for everyone but you have to look.

It looked like a boring little museum that doesn't charge for entrance. But inside it was a treasure trove of information and history. The custodian provided as much entertainment as information. If you are in Stonehaven, GO HERE. I cannot recommend it too highly.

I still don't know why I went here... The staff are friendly. The kids are running around looking for dinosaurs. The rest of the adults are more like - hmmm what a very random collection of objects? The display cabinets just seem to be filled...More

Not much to it but you can spend 20 minutes or so having a look around. Staff friendly. There's a few Tolbooths in the wider area, the one in Aberdeen is more comprehensive but if you're down by the harbour then it's worth going in,...More

We visited this museum and I would definitely recommend this. Interesting information on Stonehaven and surrounding area, Dunnottar school and a DVD on the fireballs. My daughter participated in a 'find the dinosaur' activity which was great to do where you had to find 10...More

The tolbooth is small but in a good location. We have been before and it is still the same inside. My kids love the mangle outdide the most. Typical.

A great little treasure trove of local history and beyond. Helpful and friendly staff too as I was "turning the screw".
