Cividale dei Friuli is and excellent UNESCO World Heritage site. Within easy walking distance you can see the Christian Musem, the Archeological Museum, and the Tempietto Longobardo. All these places help in the understanding of the Longobards (or Lombards) in Italy during the Middle Ages.

Quite hard to describe, just come here and look around this historical town. I found it several years ago just by coincidence and come back every year since then, even for a coffee in Caffé San Marco, a little rest and then leave again. I recommend to come here on sunday, when the city really lives its public life.

If you ever thought small towns have nothing to offer, you are wrong. We had wonderful time here, we saw medieval fair and had amazing pizza. If you are looking for spending the quiet family time, this is your town

Cividale is a very small town that is hiding everything you need to know about the history of Italy.

Ancient Cividale perched above the River Natisone is a gorgeous place to visit with pretty squares, romantic winding streets, the dramatic Devil's Bridge and good places to eat local food. If this were in Tuscany it would be infested with tourists but we visited in high season and there were no crowds. If you are interested in getting a different... More

We were there for only two days (one night). It's a lovely place, but it was enough to discover all of the important places.

It is a hidden gem - the place in enlisted on UNESCO world heritage site list. The best part is that there are very few tourists :-)

We went to Cividale on July 28, 2016 as a family of 4. I brought the entire family for the 1st time and they loved its unique medieval charm. From the spectacular Ponte Del Diavolo to the cobblestone side streets, this town is unspoiled by tourists. Worth an afternoon to explore its quiet and ominous Celtic, Roman and Lombard history.
