Gold was what attracted me to visit! There is a beautiful garden where you can take photos but it was raining when I visited, so I went straight indoors. The tunnel museum gives a good illustration of history of the mine and how life was working in the mine. I enjoyed panning for gold, though it was tiring!

Delightful old display about gold mining in Japan. Worth while visit just to see the figures and mechanics of display. Some interesting info and a good long walk underground. Easy access.

Final this time we arrived in time so it was perfect to visit it. I had visited some other mines in Japan, but this one seems to have the most bad conditions... More

I knew a fact that a gold mine in Sado was the biggest one in Japan and one in Toi was the second for the first time. This area used to be bustling thanks to this gold mine. The reason why I entered into this museum was not able to enjoy other sightseeing spots due to rain. I felt... More

I strongly recommend this place to visit when you are in Izu. In the mine, you can see many figures dressed in Edo style. This figure is so elaborately made. It would make you imagine how people worked in Edo period. Here, You can find English illustration everywhere. Also, you can touch the biggest gold block in the world. And... More
