Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is the best Pasola field on the island. Close to the main road with beautiful view to the valley. Keep the field away from new house or building constructions

The biggest ritual of the year is held here, the Pasola festival. A ritual to spill blood in honor of their ancestors and as a sacrifice for a good harvest ahead. Literally blood has been spilled here, deaths have also happened in the past. There are two megalithic tombs stones on the site and amazing views down to wanokaka from the edge of the site. Often you can see buffalo in a water hole between the edge of the road and the site. Must visit if in the area.

Although the Pasola was stopped by the police after less than an hour (rival groups in the crowd started hurling rocks at each other, apparently a regular outcome) it was quite a show anyhow. Two opposing sides, wearing 'team colours', ride their horses at each other while throwing long wooden sticks which resemble blunt spears. Quite wild.

This is the sacred place of the Pasola festival, a must see event if you come to sumba at the right time of year. Stunning views down to the coast from this site.

Huge arena used for the traditional Pasola. Visited twice now and each time is a step back in time.
The field is huge and has two stands. Be carful if attending the event as towards the end rocks start to fly.
To visit when there is nothing going on gives you the full size of the area. Walk towards the far side and enjoy the views of the bay below.

just a small field, during the year used as a football field. Sorroundings of the fields are just smoll houses with tin roof.
