Everyone recalls Mahaa Maham as it comes around once in 12 years (next in Feb 2016). This tank which looks calm and peaceful on other days, becomes a mass of people all wanting to have a dip on the special day pf the star (Maham).

Visited Mahamaham tank during our visit to Kumbakonam and temple circuit. Wonderful but badly maintained place. No clothes changing facilities for ladies. Evenings can be very pleasant as we enjoyed sitting on the tank steps in the evenings with Kasi vishwanathar temple view.

This is one of the Sacred Tanks for Hindus where a Festival is held once in Twelve Years named Mahamaham. A dip here is supposed to wash all sins. Unfortunately at present the tank is dry and sad to watch. Hope water flows soon.
