Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed 2 days in this "community"
Pros
- Women from the community are friendly and it is very interesting to talk with them
- The acitivities i did there were all interesting (activities in the village, tubing, animal health center...)
- Even if it is not in deep jungle, you can see easily monkeys, tarentulas, birds...
- Amelie speak french and sometimes if you dont speak spanish
Cons
- The place is managed by the community but you dont sleep in a village. All the women go home in the village around 8:00 pm. So it is not so "authentic" and it is not in the deep jungle (only 5 minutes from Misahuali)
- Rates are 30% more expensive that those indicated in the website

They are totally set up to entertain tourists, and you don't really see "the community" other than the folks who come out to do the demonstrations. However, it is very interesting to see how they prepare the local Yuca drink, make pottery & pan for gold. It is also fun to try hitting the owl with a blow dart. The gift shop has some nice, not overly expensive souvenirs.

It was not a pleasant experience.
When we arrived in Misahualli, we were pressed to go on a one day tour for 75 dollars per person. When we said we would think about it because it seemed a little bit too much money, the owner left, not pleased with us and did not let the community that we were coming. We were also told that to cross the rio Napo, it would cost 10 dollars each by boat...
When we arrived, the room was unclean. There was still toothpaste from others in the sink. It smelled of dust as if the room has not been swept in ages. The beds had nylon sheets which made us sweat all night.
When we decided to leave on the next morning and told the man in charge, he told us he didn't have the taxi number and we would have to walk back to the village with our heavy backpacks.
It was not at all like we thought it would be.

First: you can walk... The tour about 30dls for the boat has nonsense if you can go by yourself walking 15 minutes. Also the tour doesn't include activities with the community.
When arriving to the community, they ask you money for everything!! For taking pictures, to hear the story of a rock, to see them dancing or to see them prepare chicha.
Prices are: 10dls for dancing, chicha and the story.
15dls each one, to walk on the plantations and speak with the community
1 dls for pictures.
They have tucans without wings, monkeys 🐒 trapped or with strings. So it's a community that take advantage of the nature to make money...

They're just great. Great welcome, you can feel as part of the family as long as if you speak some Spanish. They organize nice tours in the jungle with a snake-expert. The lodging is modest, which is good because you feel in the jungle. The community is moreover very interesting, lead by women on a democratic way. One of the best experiences you can have in Ecuador !!

Great immersive experience learning about the community and the women’s project. We visited the chakra and saw native plants growing, harvested cacao, wrapped our fish in leaves for cooking lunch, made chocolate, saw the local dance and tried the blowgun! Soledad was a great hostess.

This is a place to visit if you want to experience what its truly like for indigenous communities to be creating a space within this period of modernization. They offer many different activities and opportunities to get to know the community and its history whether through dance, craft or a nights stay in their cabanas. They prepare the most amazing food and will share with you their knowledge of the local plants and of their culture and history. There is a large sacred rock in the middle of the community with a fascinating history that is contested between the history of the community and some scientists who came to study the rock and say it is a meteor.
A stay in this community will inspire and inform you. Don't miss it on your trip to Ecuador.

We visited as part of an organised tour so cannot vouch for individual experiences however I really liked it. I understand it is quite touristy in one way but we were incredibly well taken care of, excellent food, very basic accommodation and we took a tour into the national park with them, which I'm not sure is normally involved, but was very informative and the tubing down the river afterwards was brilliant
Everyone was so friendly and the food was great

The Comunidad Shiripuno in Ecuador is an authentic and still attached to their roots tribal community. We were kindly received and very nice treated by the Shaman and the population in General. What a wonderful experience.
