Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although small, the Hood Penn museum is amazing and really interesting. The displays are well thought out and there are lifelike characters in various locations.
It's easy to find on the main street in the Council buildings.
Back packs, handbags etc are not permitted in the museum so lock them in your vehicle
Well worth the visit

WOW where does one begin! This museum is a gem of a place to visit. Attached within the facade of the Shire Office, you’re guided into a room full of treasures. Mannequins tell the story of life on the land and in the early days of Westonia, along with additional displays so well presented, clean and organised. This detour was well worth it. A+++

This was an excellent little Museum....not to be missed when in Westonia. The displays were well laid out, life-like and informative. The displays were interesting even when you have little knowledge of the area.

The wax manikins at this museum are so life like. Love all the artefacts and history, easy walk through and mine shaft simulator was entertaining.

A remarkable museum, in a small & very remote(certainly by UK standards!) mining town. What a fascinating place, run by volunteers, who opened specially for us......two English visitors & a (relative) local. Well worth a detour from the Great Eastern highway. Quite surreal. Thanks for making us so welcome, Shirley

We had the pleasure of seeing the beautiful hood Penn museum, I'm not much for history but this is so easy to walk through. Takes about 40mins if you like to really get onto every exhibit . Stacey and Shirley where just amazing, the museum is a real gem in this beautiful out back town. It good for kids not too old and fuddy duddy so they won't loose interest. Looking forward to getting back to see future developments with the museum.

I always thought that museums were boring but I was proved wrong when we paid only $3.00 to visit this one on the Main Street in Westonia.
It was quite disconcerting to walk around the corners and find such lifelike figures waiting for us.
The exhibits have been donated by the townsfolk and are many and varied.
There is a miners cage where you can experience the effect of the blasting at the goldmine. The Westonia residents hear a siren and hear the blasting every day.
This museum is well worth a visit followed by coffee at The Westonia Gallery.
