Visited a lot of monasteries. But this one really made it to the top. Picturesque, peaceful, plus the well defined structures. Everything is perfect. I would definitely come back in Maramures and visit the monastery.

Probably one of the most peaceful, picturesque , full of tranquility and positive energy places from Romania.The locals hospitality is beyond description.History and tradition at their best.Highly recommended to any Transilvania traveller.

great places (I think that you have at least 10 different but similar churches to see) to show how the locals were constructing their churches of wood. some are quite well preserved so select carefully which ones you want to see.

The Monastery Barsana conquers you with the amazing views, wooden churches in the transilvanian style and the peaceful atmosphere which flies around. All is build up with a very good taste, gardens, churches, flowers.... Definitely a peace of heaven on earth which should be seen...More
