If you are interested in maritime history you might find it interesting since you do not expect to find that there was actually a very active and succesfull maritime community until the end of the 20th century on the foot of mount Olympus.

Very interesting museum and a wonderful town. Combines mount Olympus with the beach. You should definitely visit the Monastery of St Dionysios
