You do need to be in good shape to do this track. Read my other review on the Peppers lodge and make sure you stay there instead of the hut to break up the trek. Got it done in 4 days. It's absolutely stunning. It's...More

There are various walks, depending on how fit you are and how much time you have. The sky walk is one of the shortest, but offers some of the best views.

The water taxi ride (with the big boats...Sea Shuttles?) was fine. The sea was rough that day, and we only had time for the Pit Head trail since it had poured all morning. I will say that the huts at Anchorage are very well maintained,...More

We did just a short 1.5 hour hike along the track starting from the southern entrance at Motueka but even then the views were splendid. Spotted some native NZ birds as well. Easy place to navigate with good signages. Guided tours might be nice but...More

Going, at least, for a one-day walk will let you enjoy the essence of this park, absolutely amazing. The view is astonishing, the route is not too difficult, and totally worthy.

Beautiful views. Loved the swinging bridge. The water taxis made it easy to go just the distance we wanted.

This was the highlight of our trip. We did the AquaTaxi to Bark Bay then 4 hours walk to Anchorage then AquaTaxi back to Kaiteriteri. Brilliant.

We chose a day hike starting at Bark bay and moving down to Anchorage. We grabbed a water taxi for the trip (they gave away fresh gala apples - Yummy!) and were let off at Medlands. We walked over to Bark Bay and admired the...More

I highly recommend a trip up to Abel Tasman and surrounds when visiting the South Island. It really is a hidden gem! I had honestly never heard of it, but business brought us to Nelson so we thought we would check it out. Well worth...More

Hi jpkmckenn, to be honest I am not sure, however I would think the area is pretty safe regardless, you would be recommended to not leave any valuables out though. If you are getting to the start of the track with an... More

No restaurants on the track other than Awaroa. Every beach is fabulous though my favourite is Te Pukatea. Aim to do walks of around 3 hours. Sea kayaking is a good option.
