The hall and gardens are lovely. Hall and gardens are small compared to a lot of trust properties but good to wander around. There is also a canal walk running alongside gardens and woodland walk children would enjoy. The staff in the hall were chatty...More

A small but full of history national trust attraction. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with two young children. Staff were fab, made sure we were welcome. Made a fuss of our children and they got to try on some armour. Staff also heard us speaking...More

This is a small Jacobean property with Victorian extension, set in rather unkempt grounds. The rooms are furnished in Victorian style. There were quite a number of friendly stewards but the property seemed somewhat cramped and confusing. The Tea Room was adequate but not inspiring....More

There is plenty to do at this National Trust property. They had wild art and bug hunting kits for kids to take round the grounds. They also had mud pie making on the day we visited which our pre-schooler loved. The grounds are very pleasant...More

We've been National Trust members for many, many years now and enjoy the amazing houses and gardens they offer. Visited Rufford Old Hall yesterday, despite lack of NT brown signs en route. A warm, friendly and informative welcome from the two lady guides in the...More

I visited Rufford Hall on the first wet day for several weeks. However it did not ruin my enjoyment. There are extensive grounds to explore and I was interested in the different products grown - unusual varieties of apple and beetroot to name a few....More

As someone else has said, I think it is due to some of the items not being owned by the property. The photography issue regarding flash is valid but they usually say just don't use a flash.
