Casa Sauza Tequila factory tour
Tour was $700 Mx for 4 (2 adults and 2 teens)
Tour starts at their hacienda located a few blocks from the main plaza. The property is beautiful with outdoor garden. The house has a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs and Sauza Tequila. Tour was completely in Spanish so our private tour guide made arrangements so he could translate for me. My husband speaks Spanish so he didn’t have any issues understanding. They take you through several areas of the factory showing the different processes. Lots of different tequilas to taste throughout the tour. It was a nice tour maybe 45 mins. I wished I had been able to see the fields where they harvest the Agave.
Tour was very expensive and we’re not big drinkers so the tequila drinking was lost on us.
My 17 yo daughter tried tequila for the first time, that was priceless!

The tour is really worth it. In the end, they offer you a Little Song. We ate at his restaurant, where everything was delicious. The factory is very modern, impeccable, and they explain every step of the process of making tequila.

Fun tour. We did a BUNCH of distillery tours on our trip (7 in 3 days to be exact) and we wanted to do this one as it was close to our lodging & wanted to see the "bigger" side of distilleries (but not Cuervo) versus the more Artisinal/Smaller distilleries. Sauza was a really nice tour & Marisol (our English speaking guide) was wonderful !!
Take a quick shuttle ride to the fields & actually "plant" an Agave and see El Jimador at "work". Tour the actual distillery, taste in the barrel room & learn about Sauza tequila.

Amazing place to visit. We did not make it to the last tour but our server, Aurelio, was kind enough to tailor a tequila tasting platter - with description of the product included. We also got free salsas and tortilla chips on the house with the drinks.
The setting and garden is picturesque and so instagramable !
You need to visit Casa Sauza

After reading other reviews, a friend and I decided to take the Casa Sauza tour instead of several others. What a treat! Since it was a Monday, we were the only ones on the tour and yet you would never have known it. Our guide, Diana, and her tour partner, Gerardo (driver and jimador) were fantastic. We got a very thorough description of the distillation process, were offered samples of various types of tequila and had each and every question answered with a smile. At the end, we were given very generous drinks of tequila (naturally!) and jamaica. The bartender, whose name I'm embarrassed to say I didn't catch, was also friendly and helpful. He tolerated my very bad Spanish even though I know his English was probably much better.
The tour included a visit to the ranch, El Indio, and was $150 pesos.
This was my second tour of a tequila distillery and my favorite. A BIG thanks to everyone at Casa Sauza for making this visit so memorable!
(One important item for those who are a bit older or are traveling with young children...bathrooms are available at every stop. While a bit embarrassing to mention, it does matter.)

Great tour, but it was like going to any large scale beverage producer (think Budweiser, for example) Sauza is interested in quality, but the size and scale of their production moves them from the old ways of production. Some sip samples along the way during the tour to see how the flavors progress during production. A margarita is served at the tour's end.
Make a reservation through an agent (they can be found in the Taquila's central Plaza), call in advance or go to the gift shop at the plant. Get there early to enjoy the most beautiful gardens around the founder's former home (now offices, gift shop and reception center).

We visited the Hacienda Sauza. Neat place to see...lots of Mexican family history in this town. Also visited Forteleza Distillery owned by Memo Sauza. We met him in Guadalajara and once you meet the guy you won't forget him...great tequila too.

The tour was good, we were just 5 people so person who gave the explanation was very polite and gave us a lot tequila to taste. Very instructive and profesional. they take to the fields and the farm to demostrate the process from the start
Pretty close from downtown
We just selected the tour, but in the web they offer many other options to select.
At the end, they gave us a coctail, my God, delicious.

The start of the tour was very good, from the garden you walk to the processing plant and they show you the old barrels, you see the difference of them and later you see a big mural that contains the story of Tequila and Casa Sauza. Til that point everything was nice.
After that they get you inside the processing plant, there you'll walk around big, huge stainless steel containers listening to the guide explaining you what happens there, that's it. Is a very industrial plant like any other, no magic, all modern process, nothing that captures your look, only shining containers.
I recommend you to take a look at my other reviews, if you want to take with you nice memories of your trip to Tequila you may want to visit something more traditional, with more picturesque than an industrial landscape

We arrived to Sauza yesterday tired and ready for some tequila tastings when we were informed they were closing about 1pm for a private event. No more tours, no tasting nothing! Very disappointing. The staff was friendly but still having travelled from California we were bummed.

Yo lo contraté enfrente de la iglesia principal. El tour costó 250 pesos y fue muy completo. Recorriendo el campo con agaves, la destilería, la quinta.... Muy completo

My sister is interested in possibly having a ceremony at the distillery since we will already be staying at a resort there. Is this possible?
Written 13 June 2016
There is a reasonably nice garden area in the center of the reception building. Ask them to send you pictures.

Hola Antabasco
Me costo 150 pesos mexicanos en enero 2016, pero creo que deberías comunicarse con ellos para coordinar la visita y pedir un descuento para el grupo.

Hi peter - thank you for sharing your experience. one quick question - what type of tour did you take ? is it worth it for people that have never been to tequila and experience this for the fist time?
Written 4 February 2016
We were frustrated by this too. We called and could not get a straight answer. We ended up emailing them in Spanish (after a few unanswered phone calls) and finally got some answers. We arranged for an English speaking tour at 3 pm. You pay when you arrive there. Totally worth it.
