We bought a tour on the street in Tequila and it was much more we expected. We went via the city and git some recommendations on restaurants and bars also a bit history. Then we went to agave fields and finally to the factory. Our guide was amazing. You need only basic knowledge of spanish. We understood pretty much everything and we dont speak fluent spanish. Also nice tasting in the end. Very good price for all tour. We paid mx200 per person. Highly recommended.

Fun tour

This is a good starter tour to see the process of tequila as done by the newer destilleries. You can see the whole process and get to ride in a big chilli bus that featured on the TV.

That said the tequila is not very good although the guides do a good job of explaining everything in the process.

Waste of time and money!

We were sold this “fantastic” tour which was everything but that! I’ll start off with don’t bother going here if you don’t understand Spanish, they did the tour in Spanish only and I had no idea what they were saying! There were only about 4 tequila tastings which were all terrible! I thought we were going to be able to go into the agave fields- nope! They just cattle a hugeeee group of people around as quick as they can and it’s over. I should have just stayed at the pool!

We hope that on your next visit when you buy your tour you specify to your seller that you require the tour in English and buy your visit in the company that is endorsed by this Tequila company, and that you understand that sometimes it is not the fault of the company that brings you to visit the company not being able to visit the agave fields, because sometimes the schedules can no longer be visited and if you promise to demand it because whenever something is promised, it is required to comply, it is foreign to this transporters, as we offer just one ticket for them. We hope to see you soon so you can take a tour that you ask at the time of your sale what you require. Regards!

A fun time

We came to Tequilla via a 10 passenger van from Nuevo Vallarta / Bucherias area. We benefited from having a very fun group as well as our tour guide providing info as well last the Rubio Tour Guide. We had a short tour of the town and then proceeded to the factory for a tour and then the first tasting. The process isn't that complicated so the tour doesn't take too long. The tasting consists of a small sample of the four kinds of Tequilla that they make and then off to the gift shop. Gift shop prices are very reasonable - a baseball cap was $80 pesos. We then returned to town for some more Tequilla tasting...

City tour was poor, the factory was just average

During my last visit to Tequila, we decided to take the Destiladora Rubio tour. As someone who has visited 5 different tequila factories I have to say this was just average. I mean, they do offer several visiting times (which might be useful if you arrive late to Tequila, just as we did this time) but the experience is by far not the best. Plus, the town tour was poor. They left us almost 30 min outside the factory waiting for the Chile bus to came to pick us. Then, they came in a different bus (which was a good call) but they took us to the liquor tasting before the city tour, and that lead to us having to take the town tour at night when it was already dark. If you haven't been to Tequila, it is a really small town, therefore there was not much that we could appreciate at that time. At the end, the tour lasted less than 10 minutes and leave us at a different location from the one we started. I don't recommend it unless you don't have any other option.
