Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We passed by on way to Ulun Danu temples and bought strawberries, soursop, passion fruits and sapodillas. They were delicious and reasonable in price after we made a little bargaining. The vendors were friendly too and let us try them before we bought!
The market has gone a lot quieter these days but I think it is still a nice place to browse and learnt about local fruits and spices etc as it is not as smelly and "wet" as local market . The vendors can speak English as well which is a plus for tourists !

I came to buy spices, which I managed to do, however it wasn't really a pleasant experience. The sellers are a little more pushy than in the city,I'm pretty sure I paid too much, and the watch sellers drove us mad!
It would be good to know your spice prices before you go, as I think it's really easy to pay over the odds! Nothing is priced - it's all "How much do you want to offer", so you have no clear idea of the starting point!
The ladies at one of the stalls offered us fruit tastings - mangosteen, passionfruit, snakefruit, guava. All absolutely delicious!
There's a huge variety of fruits, vegetables and spices available, along with the usual souvenirs and clothing (oh, and did I mention the watches?)
I'm glad I went, but I'm not sure I'd go back again.

Vendors are pushy, prices are approx. 7 times higher than the real local markets. This is just a tourist attraction.

Pay attention to the quality of fruits. I bought a box of strawberries and half of them was damaged.

In short - overrated, overpriced and a complete waste of time. Visit a local market in any town instead.

Another place you can easily bypass. This is nothing more than dirty, crowded fruit stalls and a few vendors selling junk souvenirs.

Too many small kiosks selling the same thing, local snacks, strawberries and corns, they keep waving and as you walk you will start to shake your head.

We went there because the fresh veggies and fruits. Despite speaking the local language the lady who sold us the fruit was rude and gave us super high price, she insisted to pick the fruit for us and gave us the bad ones. She tried to make us happy by giving 2 snake fruit for free.. we found out later it was spoiled too.

This was a quick stop on the way north. It's primarily selling nuts, spices, strawberries (!), saris, and some trinkets. I suspect it's more for tourists than locals, so bargain really hard if you find anything you like (think < 70% their initial offering price).

It's a pretty nice market, lots of local produce to buy.
It caters main to tourist though, so you do have to have some idea of prices before coming here, otherwise you'll get slaughtered.
Tips: Visit Hardy's, Carrefour or Bintang Supermarket for a idea of prices to pay for souvenir before coming here. Spices e.g. vanilla pods, pepper are relatively cheap.
