The boat ride tt's a spectacular experience. Get to see a lot of birds, curly pelicans, flamingos, and many more "long legged" birds that I can't remember their names. The scenery it's fantastic, full of pine trees and brush. Also a visit at the 360° tower was very beautiful, the 360° view of the forest from above was amazing, especially close to sunset, makes a fantastic place for perfect fotos.
Close to the beach there are a lot of sea food restaurants that cook fresh fish and traditional meals.
Overall, Karavasta lagoon makes for a good day outdoors, with many interesting things to see.

After all what Albania went through it is always good to see places preserved like this. Unique Laguna in the region. All year Pelikan presence, from September, many other birds winter in this fish rich Laguna.
Among the fish you can see the Flamengos, Herons and many other. The camp staff is very nice and they wellcome you to a small tour through the park.
Good place to go for bird watching. One of best places to go if you are in Tirana.

The laguna and beach were almost desert in september. On the beach was strong wind with sand clouds. In the lagun was more romantic with nice bridges to cross the water.
We have the company of a stray dog. We got for company for all time of our visit of the lagun. Unfortunatelly we have anly limited time so we have to return next time to watch the pelicans and explore the 22 230 ha of the protected area. And do not forget to bring a repelent (big mosquitos).

I am visiting Albania for two weeks in September. I will visit a number of nature reserves. How long would you recommend for a visit to Divjake Karavasta to make the most of the park. I am a keen birdwatcher and will be bringing some gear with me.

Karavasta Lagoon (Albanian: Laguna e Karavastasë) is the largest lagoon in Albania and one of the largest in the Mediterranean Sea, spanning an area of 42 km2 (16 sq mi). Karavasta is part of the Divjakë Karavasta National Park and is separated from the Adriatic Sea by a large strip of sand. It sprawls across the Myzeqe coastal plain near Divjakë and some 20 km (12 mi) near Lushnjë.
Karavasta hosts many pine trees and small sandy islands. It is renowned for hosting the Dalmatian pelican; 6.4% of the Europe's population of the Dalmatian pelican is found in Karavasta.[5][6][7] The lagoon falls within the Illyrian deciduous forests terrestrial ecoregion of the Palearctic Mediterranean forests, woodlands, and scrub. The climate is typically mediterranean.
The lagoon is located inside the boundaries of Divjaka-Karavasta National Park and has been recognised as a wetland of international importance by designation under the Ramsar Convention. The lagoon has been identified as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International, because it supports significant numbers of the populations of various bird species.[8]
The Karavasta Lagoon is within the List of Ramsar wetlands of international importance[9] and is part of the Divjake-Karavasta National Park. Inside the park's boundary are found a number of restaurants with the most famous Divjaka Fish a restaurant in forest, well known for variety of fish, vegetable cooked .
Since disinfection campaigns have long been halted, the area is known to have a very active mosquito season. However, in 2014, disinfection campaigns have started and a park rehabilitation project has been initiated by the national authorities. It included a hunting moratorium which revived bird-watching activities.
it still hot, so I believe you will need the mosquito repellent easy to purchase in any pharmacy.
