Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My friend Katie from Sydney & I drove out to Petrie from Brisbane for the day (her idea!) & had breakfast at Petrie Hotel, walked through the historical Old Petrie Town & finished off with a visit to the Pine Rivers Historical Museum. Day went as follows

-Fun 40 minute drive into Petrie listening to Lizzo & Abba songs

-Coffee & a yummy cooked breakfast at the Heritage Hotel. We enjoyed being here and took a walk around the building which is basically an antique - it has major ye olde vibes and the pine trees outside are 300 years old!

-Walk through the Old Petrie Town - a heritage town that has the 1930’s shops restored and the kind of place I picture my grandmother wandering through when she was a girl. There’s the Ye Ole Lollie Shop (Mackenzies Store), Old Boiler House Steam & Engine Museum & lots more. There were markets happening & we found old 2nd hand book store where I grabbed a copy of An Doh’s ‘The Happiest Refugee’

-The highlight was the excellent Histotical Museum. Katie & I loved the old board games room (full of old games you can play) & we enjoyed a few games of the classic, ‘Ludo’ which I remember playing as a kid on a 1950’s version given to my mum when she was a girl! There’s also plenty for history buffs including an old general store replica and Miss Birdwhistle’s classroom with the fascinating Children’s National Guild of Courtesy list of ‘Good Manners’ (a great reminder of how valued propriety & proper manners were back then compared to now) & some information about local pioneer Thomas Petrie

There was a bubble tea van outside & we both enjoyed a beverage on what was a very hot & humid day before heading back to Highgate Hill. A great day trip indeed! Thank you Petrie!

Great find; only about 30kms from home. Never been there before in 20+ years in Brisbane, but from now on will be on the 'must do' list for visitors. Fascinating insight into local history. And great to go there on a Saturday - because we're told it's very crowded on Sundays and it's hard to look around properly. Whilst there also check out Old Petrie Town in the same grounds.

What a hidden gem ! visited with a group of "over 50's" and were treated to a delicious morning tea. Worked my way through the museum displays and video presentations and was very impressed with the content and narrative. The highlight was the theatrette presentation....................outstanding! Props were set up in front of the screen and were linked to the dialogue and screen show. The props lit up, moved and there was even a miniature horse and coach travelling across the stage. Brilliant and informative. Lunch at the heritage Hotel was just lovely. A visit to this delightful place is highly recommended.

Must visit! It sits at the corner of the parking lot in Old Petrie Town, it seemed so quiet and simple from the outside, but when I went in, I was fascinated. Totally beyond my expectations. The cinema show is a must see, do not miss it! Lots of things to learn and see. They provided many videos to watch about the history and a variety of other things. Too bad we did not have time to watch every single topic, but given the chance again, we would come back. Very well kept, very neat, very comfortable to enjoy at your own pace. This place deserves more publicity! The only problem is it is not accessible via public transport, your own transport is necessary to reach Old Petrie Town.

Located in Old Petrie Town, this museum is a must see place. Run by the City Council, it exhibits lots of artifacts related to the opening of the place. One can watch an amazing theatre of how the place was opened and it's also in 3D. But the only setback is that there is no public transport from the Petrie Station to this place. Maybe the town council can rectify this.

What a wonderful display. Where the police station stands in Petrie now once stood the North Pine Hotel, with the Main Street coming up through Sweeney reserve. Once you have finished in the museum you can take a wk around North Pine County Park and see some of the building in the pictures. Brilliant, loved it and can not wait to share with our children
