Sitting atop Sagaing Hill, this substantial and highly decorated pagoda is really quite stunning. Lots of gold leaf, shrines, Buddha figures etc. Walking around the base provides stunning views across the hills and pagodas and down to the river.

The views accross the Irriwady are so amazing that the pagoda becomes secondary. The pagoda is very lovely and has interesting tiled floors.

Spent a bit of time there as the views of the river and valley below were just spectacular. The giant sitting Buddha inside was also really beautiful!

Beautiful views and very inspiring to think the upkeep on these Pagodas' keeps a lot of people employed. The gold guild would cost a fortune. Local donate money for this to happen, and we as tourist in our travel pay for this as well.

Medium size pagoda complex with a number of outbuildings. What makes it unique is the number of frog statues scattered around the complex. Well worth a look, if you have the time.

The pagoda sits on one of the hills in Sagaing. It's the Buddha image here that is striking - an immense marble statue in golden robes in a hall with shimmering green tiles. The open verandahs surrounding it are no less opulent. Walk all around...More
