We visited this area while in Mandalay for 3 days---and really enjoyed driving/walking around. SO many temples and pagodas--- and great views. Well worth a half day or so.

This area is a must see - awe inspiring. Visit Monastic school and orphanage. Meet monks and understand the teaching ob Buddhism.

Worth the drive up for the views alone. There are also some interesting small temples to see. On a clear day you can see for miles

We went up from our boat with a mad driver, who loved racing round the hair pin bends which was quite scary. The views from the top soon made you forget them.
