There are numerous beautiful place, localized and known mainly to the locals in India. Yellur is one such a sweet spot located 22 kms off Belgaum. It is a towering hill that can be seen from any part of Belgaum and has a fort atop. I am gonna write a bit about this spot, and a few more such places to come soon..
Had planned this visit from KL itself, as I had to drive from Bangalore to Belgaum and then to Yellur. Yellur fort is located close to Belgaum town and can ask for directions from people around once you reach Goaves circle. The road is small but sweet one and takes you via Yellur village onto the hilltop. The road goes right up to the top and the greenery around you is soothing..
There is nothing much to do atop the Yellur hill that has a fort which is still quite sturdy and envelops hilltop. There is a temple inside. But the temple that you see outside-the Gods temple – nature, is unbelievable. You get an eyesore with all the greenery around you and get a 360 degrees view of it. How much time you spend here is entirely upto your taste. Me and my buddy weer here for over two hours amidst some drizzle.
During monsoon, the view of the hill from city will be shrouded in the clouds.. an amazing look indeed.
Don’t expect any refreshments here. Don’t carry them either, coz its almost litter free up here. Belgaum city is just 22 kms away…
You can be here for an awesome sunrise or sunset view. Or anytime in the day. The nature wont disappoint you. See the pictures here.

Yellur Fort, also known Rajhansgad fort is one of the must visit places in Belgaum. It is about 15 kms from the main city. There is no public transport to reach this place and better to go by your own means of transportation. We rented a two wheeler to reach this place. This place is known for its scenic beauty. You can visit this fort with family and friends. Spend sometime in shiva temple. To witness the beauty of this place, walk around the place to look deep into the nature. It's absolute bliss to spend time amidst of nature!

Rajhunsgad is surrounded by greenery of farms and fields with rice as a major crop. Yellurgad (Yellur Fort) located within the vicinity of Belgaum Taluka, on hillock with a breathtaking view.It is situated nearly 2,500 ft (762 m) above sea level. According to sources, this Fort dates back to history many centuries ago among different kingdom and its rulers including the Yadavas, Hoysalas, Bahamani, Adilshahi, Peshwas-Marathas.The fort on top of hill is visible from almost all areas of Belgaum. It is also believed that there existed a secret tunnel from the Belgaum fort upto Rajhunsgad during the ancient period. In this fort, a beautiful Temple of ‘Lord Shiva’ is situated where most of the people staying in and around the villages of this fort visit and pray every Monday. There is Well of sweet water on top of this hill. It is infact an admirable architecture of the past architects and rulers. An awesome view of Belgaum City can be had from this fort.

This place is a short diversion from Belgaum. We were stunned by the beauty of the fort. nestled among flat lands, on a hillock, this fort is in the middle of a green forest. The 360 degree views offered from all the sides of the fort are unparalleled.

Rajhansgad Fort is a very nice place to visit near Belgaum. It is accessible by private vehicle and also by public transport (bus). If you're reaching there by private car then you can reach quite close to the top of the fort. Greenery around the fort is also good even in the month of April - May.

The journey to rajhansgarh fort through quaint villages and fields and habitats was spectacular. And the fort is situated at a vantage point and is well maintained and not crowded at all, and offers good view.
