We visited the Sea Turtle Hatchery when we stayed at a resort in Cayo Largo. It costs 2 pesos per person to enter. They raise the turtles from popular beaches, so the eggs don’t get crushed under foot. When they are grown, the turtles are released. It’s not very large but it was interesting to see the turtles up close and hold them.

This is not only a neat visit but a truly noble cause. Drop into a pet store at home and buy up all the “growth turtle food” and give it to them. We have been 3 times and although it is small in scale, this is a really important effort and it feels great to help in any small way. Love the new albinos and being able to see all the age ranges. Cayo Largo is small with very little to do (which is why we love the place). Do not miss it!

Various pools, displaying several growth stages of the turtles. Very knowledgeable staff willing to educate you on their purpose, and the turtles. $2CUC per person entry.

Sea Turtle's live and up close what more could you want. The staff is super friendly and helpful and they give you food to feed the turtles. We saw small turtles about 7 cm , some larger about 40 cm and also some albino sea turtles. They are located about one block from the marina and the cost is 2 cuc to enter. The bus ride from Bella Isla resort to the marina was free so a real inexpensive little trip. While there we walked the docks at the marina and saw some pretty impressive fish swimming around. Also the market is right there , small only 4 stalls , but some nice things. I enjoyed it.
