Beautiful church constructed in 1732 with the richest gold foil interior of any church in Brazil. Although no photography allowed inside, definitely worth a visit. Try to be there during the organ concerts ....

The church sits high on a terrible colina to be reached on foot. admission is paid. Impossible for handicapped. There are irregular stone stairs. The view is horrible.

We visited the Church in a Tuesday evening for the guided tour (lights and colors show) and for the Organ concert. I recomended it, because the church is very, very beautiful, you learn local history and can listen to a very old organ (1785). Points...More

Built by slaves in the 18th century, during the golden age in Brazil. Lots of gold, beautiful painted ceiling, original hardwood floor. Great view from up there.

This is an over-the-top church. Too bad photos are not allowed, you just have to remember it. One word: gold! This makes Tiradentes a village not too be missed.

More than a Saint Antonio Church, this religious monument is called Matriz, which is the second highest nomination after a Cathedral ! This church has perhaps more gold than any other in the region of historic cities of Minas Gerais. Not only the walls, but...More

This is one amazing tourist attraction you have to see when visiting Tiradentes. I was in awe the whole time I was there. You have to pay a small fee to get into the church and when inside, taking pictures is strictly forbiden.

Delightful evening of organ music together with a soprano soloist. The musicians and the organ are in the back of the church and the wooden pews faced forwards, so the seating was unconfortable, to say the least. But hearing an organ that has been in...More
