You do need to pay to park but the falls themselves, a short walk from the car park in Linton or down the hill from Grassington, are free to visit. We visited two days after heavy rain and the falls were in full flow. We've been here a few times also when the river has been low but there's always something wonderful to admire. This time there was a heron perched on a stone on the bank probably admiring the view as we were. Visit can be combined with a pleasant walk along the riverbank - with or without a canine companion (we have done both) and/or a pop into Grassington which is just up the hill or the excellent pub in Linton village which is up the hill in the other direction.

I had read previous reviews about Linton falls and anyone who thinks they are average must have very average lives. They are beautiful, interesting, magical and much more if you spend the time watching and listening. Highly recommend a visit.

We had planned to visit Grassington for the day and happened to read up that the Linton Falls were close by so made sure we left enough time in our day to walk and see them. We were not disappointed. Park for £4.80 for 2 or more hours in national park car park, lots of spaces, good toilet facilities and clearly marked signposts to the falls. Lovely circular walk round the falls and back. Definitely recommend a visit if you’re in Grassington.

There is a car park an appropriate distance of 100 metres away which is reasonably priced.
We tried the previous evening to locate the falls and only found them by pure fluke earlier today when we pulled over directly next to the wooden sign next to the alleyway which led to the falls.
The alleyway is located immediately before the first house on the left and takes you to the wooden bridge where excellent photos can be taken of the river and falls directly below.
The river has good walks to the attractive village of Grassington and we saw several fly fishers too.
There is no doubting how pretty the area is but unless you are taking an activity, fishing or walking there is not too much too see here.
Very pretty area worthy of an hour or so.

Another lovely waterfall ! Just a short walk from the car park takes you to the river Wharfe. As you walk down the narrow bit of footpath, if you continue straight on you come across the weir at the Hydro electric power station with a sign on the info board saying 'Linton falls'. Its not that impressive to be honest and I have seen average reviews with photos of the weir to reflect this, however that is not the actual Falls. To see them you turn right on the narrow pathway at the start of your walk and it takes you to a wooden footbridge that spans the river, this is where the magic is ! The water tumbles over another wier type feature and then cascades through narrower rock cuts that the river has carved out over time before turning to calm once more. Standing on the bridge and watching this happening all around you is a great experience, so if you go make sure you find the falls and not the power station weir !

so beautiful to see and so is the little village.
You must walk behind the village to the church. Which is so picturesque - walk through the Church grounds to the stepping stones in the river - cross to the other side and walk back to the falls

Visited today (Sun 12th Feb) for the 1st time with my husband and son, parked in the Yorkshire Dales visitor centre car park for £5 all day. There's a path at the bottom of the car park leading between fields of sheep down to Linton falls, sloping gently down a narrow path. The falls are so picturesque, we stood on the wooden bridge for ages looking at the beautiful view & taking photos, the sound of rushing waters is so soothing, with the hills & sheep fields in the distance. We crossed the bridge to see the hydro electric plant briefly then crossed back to walk beside the river Wharfe to the big stone bridge, a short but pretty walk, then you turn right & walk up a sloping street that leads to the main street & square in Grassington, plenty of tourist shops, cafes & pubs & a little free folk museum. You can see the filming locations for the recent series of " All Creatures Great & Small " all round the market square, the Devonshire pub is the Drovers, the Stripey Badger is the greengrocers & the vets house, Skeldale House is the house to the right of the Stripey Badger ( they change it by putting columns on the doorway etc for filming apparently. ) We had a lovely walk round Grassington after & a meal, a lovely winter day out, well wrapped up. They give you a free map of the walk from the Tourist information centre at the car park, it's an easy walk if you can walk up uneven paths & hills.

Despite living in Yorkshire, I've never really made the most of Grassington's scenery but it is absolutely beautiful, and Linton Falls is one of its highlights. You can do a circular walk from the town down to the waterfall, then walk along the river. It is a nice spot to have a picnic along the river too.
Only thing to watch out for is it does get quite busy, and there is only a narrow path leading down to the waterfall, which isn't convenient in these troubled times - particularly when some folk seem to think the pandemic is over and make no attempt to keep their distance. So perhaps try time it right to avoid peak times.

We started our visit to Grassington with a walk from the National Park car park down to Linton Falls. This is via a concrete path from the far left of the car park (so possible without walking boots). You can’t help but spend time standing on the wooden bridge watching the water rush by underneath, across the bridge you can also walk to the hydro plant with info board about its restoration.
We then went back over the wooden bridge and walked to the left along the river bank which takes you to the village (we picked up a free map from the information centre in the car park).
Despite the car park being really busy (including several coaches) the countryside just seemed to absorb everyone and it didn’t feel over crowded.
We walked into the centre of the village and were very surprised with the large number of small independent shops and choices of places to eat (cafes, pubs and restaurants). We spent most of the day in the village and really enjoyed it.
