Swinging Gate Vineyard is family sized, very hospitable winery. You are welcomed and served by the owners, who make delicious wines from the grapes grown on the property. Definitely, it was the best wine tasting experience I've had in Australia and thank you Hannah for your hospitality.

Easy to pass, up a dirt Rd off the highway but based on our experience passing would be a mistake. This is not high end presentation, it’s old fashioned wine tasting in a relaxed setting conducted by informed hosts who interact with your tastes rather than follow a formula. What I liked about their wines was that in each case they had tried to do something with the grape. It wasn’t always to my taste but it was, often enough, and on occasions it was eye opening. Vintners who take risks and push boundaries are the ones that produce the next great vintage. Lovely rose and Pinot Gris, good Chardonnay and Pinot noirs that lack “pinosity” (their description not mine) but don’t lack taste or character.

Cute dog too, and I think every vineyard needs one.

We were made to feel very welcome by Hannah and her father as well as Ben. Hannah’s level of service and friendliness was exceptional. We were treated to a fantastic tasting of beautiful wines and given the highest level of attention. What a treat it was and well worth a visit.

This was the best winery we visited in the Tamar Valley. Doug and Corrie were great hosts and very generous with their time. We tasted some great wines and some very different to some of the other wineries. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend a stop here.

We booked the dome for the night while in the north of Tas. We had a tasting at the cellar door first along with two gourmet pizzas. While we were there we met the owners and they were lovely. Very busy but happy to chat and talk about the vineyard. We met the vineyard dog Nellie and she was so cute.
The stay in the dome is highly recommended. Even though it was raining nonstop we still had a bath outside and enjoyed the relaxing time together.
There is a fire pit and chairs on the deck but due to the weather we could not use.
We are looking forward to staying again during the summer months.

We were well received by Doug (the owner) and the dog Nellie. Doug took us through a nice tasting of the house wines that have a high level. Dougs knowledge about the wine and the region was fantastic. It is possibly the best and friendliest tasting we've ever had - thanks Doug! - and your Pinot Gris was amazing for a mix cheese plateđź‘Ś

There is something special about this winery. Doug is salt of the earth, his daughter is lovely, and nephew engaging and helpful. We went with prestige wine tours which I highly recommend, we learnt so much. This was our last winery. From the beautiful wooden door entry, to the gorgeous dog i loved every minute. I felt right at home. The wine was different and delicious. The hospitality second to none.

First things first, Doug is a great host and enjoys sharing his passion for wine making. The wines are great and well priced. On our second visit we were lucky enough to get to eat great food from Loose Goose food van.

My wife and I boast having visited every major wine distrct in Australia and Swinging Gate was friendly, warmly welcoming and informative and, by far, the most fun we've had tasting wines. A big shout out to Doug who made us feel so welcome. Doug is trialling some interesting concepts and I hope everything goes well for this vinyard. The wine is excellent. I recommend the Single Block. Doug is a great host. And when you visit, don't forget to say hello to Nellie.

Last winery of the day and a good experience. Eclectic style of cellar door and range of wines. Our host, Doug, was friendly, informative and generous with the tastings. They have some very different wines that were interesting to try. Bought a couple of bottles with the tasting fee waived. Definitely worth a visit.
