Kate took my husband and I on one of her tours in May this year. It was the best day. Kate is very approachable and warm and she certainly knows her onions! The tour was fascinating, informative and had just the right balance. We are archaeology novices and know very little but we weren't made to feel stupid or uneducated... More

The use of first-class audio-visual technology and aerial views of sites using drones made for a fascinating and informative session. The variety and complexity of our prehistoric ancestors was a revelation. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable afternoon. Lunch in the café beforehand was another big plus.

Hi Ivan. Thanks for the review, but I think I you might have got my tours mixed up with another provider, as I don't give audio-visual presentations. You might be thinking of Taigh Chearsabhagh in North Uist. More

This was absolutely the best day out of a really good 2 week trip in the Scottish islands. Kate McDonald keeps just the right pace, providing enough explanation and allowing time for questions without dragging anything out. She started with a neolithic burial chamber and finished many hours later with abandoned medieval churches. In between we had seen examples of... More

A fantastic archaeological full day tour of four sites by Dr Kate MacDonald who was always interesting and keen to fill the day with detail. Uncovering the ancient history of South Uist with clarity using an impressive breadth of knowledge, Kate opened our minds eye to a truly fascinating era of human driven ecological change, survival, trade, belief systems, technology... We were privileged to have a half-day tour with Kate who introduced us to some of the ancient history of South Uist. She is an expert, but is able to speak clearly and in an engaging way about the island. Kate also gave us tips for our accommodation and helped us with the next stage of our trip. Unreserved recommendation.

We had the opportunity to go on a day tour with Dr. Kate - it was fabulous! Kate was incredibly knowledgeable, yet also very personable. She brought us from 5,000 years in the Neolithic past to medivial times. Kate was also willing to help us delve into our family ancestry on the island. She was more than willing to answer... More

If standing stones and chambered cairns are all a bit obscure to you, take the opportunity to have your eyes opened and your mind expanded by Kate McDonald on a day long Archaeology tour in S Uist. It was a great introduction to the island for us, even though we'd been twice before and failed to discover this gem of... More

I've just ventured through the Western Isles and this tour was a definite highlight of the trip. Kate drove across the islands to meet me just after I had gotten off the ferry. Then she took me on a carefully designed itinerary covering the sites and periods of history I am most interested in. I felt that Kate [and her... More

The tour was really great. Kate took us around and told us a lot about the history of the island, from the iron age onwards. The weather was pretty bad, and we had to cut the tour short as a result, but we still had a wonderful time!

We had such an interesting and enjoyable - guided tour of key archaeological sites with Kate MacDonald of Uist Archaeology! Kate was hugely informative and enthusiastic! She guided us to sites and walked us up to and around a range of sites in chronological order from Mesolithic; Iron Age to early Christian. Each site was very impressive and we would... More
