There are a lot of interesting old buildings along Paulet Street, but the one that is the most intriguing is the smallest structure on the corner of Paulet and Beaufort Streets, the Little Mill.
No specific date of construction is given, but it is assumed to be the mill on the farm once owned by Lord Charles Somerset. Another enigma - there is no river "running through it", but I believe that the town's earliest water supply was taken from the dip( now dry) where the new Catholic church is built.
The Little Mill, a charmingly whimsical building, seems like a magical manifestation of a young child's artwork - they first draw a box, put the door in the centre and draw box-shaped windows, one on each side of the door! Not seen in real life until now!!
Hopefully, once the restorations are complete, it will be back to its former glory, but whether a river can be conjured up to complete the scene... who knows?
