About
Old Kempton Distillery is located in Dysart House, Kempton, in an 1840’s colonial inn. It is an easy 40 minute drive from Hobart and approximately 2 hours from Launceston. The cellar door has two large dining rooms, available to sit and relax while you enjoy some home cooked treats from the kitchen. It also boasts a beautiful room known only as The Cask Lounge, filled with comfortable chairs, heaters, a bar, books and plants - you are invited to enjoy your tastings and relax for as long as you would like. Tours are available at 11am and 1.30pm, prior booking is needed. Our Cafe is open from 10am until 4pm with house made pies, scones, generous Tasmanian antipasto platters and many other treats. We are family and dog friendly, with a welcoming courtyard and kids menu available. We are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Good Friday.

Ive had a lot of really enjoyable trips to Old Kempton, however participating in the distillery course recently has opened my eyes to the immense level of knowledge and passion built over decades and neccesary to run a course like this at a high level - Thank you !

We did the daily tour with tasting. Parking right next to the distillery, knowledgable guide and a great tasting. We have taken a whole range of spirits home (got them delivered to our house for free as we were still travelling).

Was a great experience to see the entire process from start to finish. Hannah was a wonderful host and the rest of the crew were extremely welcoming. The anti-pasto platter had good variety and paired with the whiskies well. Attached is a photo of the whisky flight and the anti-pasto platter.

I’ve been to OKD a few times now and am always treated like an old friend. Their cellar door tastings are a welcome treat, and the food from their cafe is a highlight of the trip between Hobart and Launceston.
