Leconfield, Kootingal: Address, Phone Number, Leconfield Reviews: 5/5

About
Leconfield Five Day Jackaroo and Jillaroo School will teach you all the skills necessary for living and working on Outback stations! Every day is filled with lessons in horse care & riding, whip cracking, lassoing and cattle work. More importantly, our school specialises in the art of Natural Horsemanship, known to many as "horse whispering". This method focuses on communicating with a horse through its own language, allowing a unique partnership to develop between horse and rider. From the time our bus rolls into town Monday morning to pick you up, it's non-stop, fast action thrill in the Australian bush! So if a week of horseback riding, cattle mustering, campfire cooking and swagging under the stars sounds like your cup of Billy tea, then Leconfield will be honoured to turn you into a cowboy or cowgirl!

Grandkids treat - Jackaroo-jillaroo school
Oct. 2019 • Family
My two teenage grandchildren attended the Leconfield Jackaroo Jillaroo School and had a truly wonderful experience.

Both enthusiastically gave it a 10 out of 10 when I asked how they enjoyed it.

In my dealings with the owners in organising it I found them to be exceptionally helpful, co-operative, friendly and informative.

Highly recommend.

Amazing, life changing experience
Sep. 2019 • Family
I took my two daughters (12 &10) to the school to gain experience and knowledge with horses and farm life. From the moment we arrived, we were engaged. Tim, Courtney and the staff were friendly, informative, good natured, easy going, patient and fun loving. We quickly established a family environment where everyone was included, regardless of previous experience. The transformation I witnessed in riding abilities was almost astonishing. The staff build confidence in every rider and allow you to go at your own pace. My daughters thrived on the experience every day and will remember their time there for the rest of their lives. I highly recommend this school for anyone wanting to experience life on the farm and learn the beautiful art of natural horsemanship.

Best holiday ever!

This was one of the best decisions I ever made. A fantastic week of learning and challenge with great company and brilliant staff. As a novice rider I felt well supported, safe and appropriately challenged. Eating by the camp fire every evening and spending time learning from Tim, Sarah and Jamie were the highlights for me. Accommodation was basic but comfortable and cosy and the food was nutritious and accommodating even for my vegan diet. A very powerful and life affirming week. Thank you to the whole crew. 🙏🏻

A true life experience I will always remember
Sep. 2019 • Solo
Before I came to Leconfield, from what I’ve had seen online and read my expectations of the 5 day jillaroo school were high. I can tell you, the actual experience was even better than I could have hoped for! First of all, the property including all animals is taken care of with passion and dedication. All animals seem seem healthy, happy and content. As soon as we got started, I found out how come: Tim and staff have a great eye for detail and the well-being of the animals is always on number 1 - whether it is checking the back on delicate spots before riding or mustering cattle in a peaceful way, I felt the love and respect. This is reflected in the work we’ve been doing all week, from dogs to horses, you can tell they’re keen to work. Second, Tim is an incredibly good natural horseman and knows how to teach other people the beginnings of it. I felt challenged and motivated and with his and his staff’s help, I can tell you I learned a whole bunch of new things in only 5 days - from mustering sheep and cattle to lassoing, fencing and most of all, natural horsemanship games.

Apart from the activity program, I really appreciated spending time with both group and staff having breakfast, dinner and a drink around the campfire. Everyone is friendly and skilled and if an Australian farm experience where you learn a lot is something you’re looking for, definitely go for it. And if you go, please give Two Socks a big kiss from me.

My son Kallum attended the Leconfield 5 Day Jackaroo & Jillaroo School in July and he said it was “the best time of his life” he was 15 and went solo. Kallum said he and the other participants were made to feel very welcome and felt like part of the family. He loved the new skills he learned and really enjoyed his time at Leconfield.

My english is Not the best so i make it Short:
- days/lessons are very well structured
- i am an absolutely beginner in riding but always felt safe cause the staff Looks after you very well
- i appreciated Tims presence for Dinner, i think that shows Kind of What He thinks about his horses - be a friend
- i am vegetarian, too but i heard there was the opportunitie to watch how a sheep get slaughtered. I think that should still be Part of the school because IF you eat meat then then your own, its healthier and you know the animal didnt have to suffer
- even If Tim brands his animals (it's Just Part of being a cowboy), He still treats his sheep and cattle very well.
- get in Touch and lead the horses without touching them, that shows me the good relationship between the horses and the persons
- horses look good, healthy
- really can Not say anything negative

Thx for this awesome experience.
Tim is very Like an Idol to me.

The only thing I can say about this week it was the most beautiful experience of my whole life so far... mustering cattle on our horses, riding across the hills, learning new things about natural horsemanship, swim with the horses and have a lunch on top of a hill? Sleep outside underneath the stars looking for shooting stars... just the (Normal) things you see in movies and dreams .. learned a lot about the real OZ farmlife ! Thanks to the girls who made lovely food every day and helped with everything and ofcourse Jamie, Jakob and Tim for this amazing time !!!!!

Such a great experience! It was everything I hoped for and more! Being in such a beautiful place surrounded by animals and nice people and on top of that learn along the way was a dream come true! A definite must do when you want to learn more about Natural Horsemanship and what it entails to be a Jackaroo. Tim and the staff were very nice and helpful, they really take the time to explain everything. I’d recommend it to everyone, for the experience but also just because it’s a lot of fun!

I had an amazing time on the Leconfield farm! It is a beautiful farm (the view is amazing) and the course is a great way to experience the farmlife in Australia. I loved all of it and learned a lot about riding horses with natural horsemanship, handling cattle and sheep and mustering. The horses are amazing and riding them between the hills gives you the best feeling there is. The family and staff is very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this to everyone!
