Wow, Well done to the Altina staff and the Altin family, what a credit to Darlington Point and Griffith area.
We went there for my granddaughters 5th Birthday, the animals are so well cared for and loved. We were In the motorised cart and it was great for our family, including an elderly person and a disabled person in the group. Alissa our tour guide was amazing and knowledgeable. The Zoo is small, but you get up so close to the animals, so unlike Other zoos we have visited, price was very reasonable. And the valuable contribution that Altina Zoo is making to the conservation of such beautiful animals is remarkable, assisting some animals from the very brink of extinction.
We loved it and we will definetly call again. My favourite Animal - the beautiful and graceful, very leggy Maned Wolf!

I came across Altina in a travel article just before heading to the Riverina. This wildlife park is only a 40 minute drive from Griffith and an absolutely wonderful experience. The park offers a motorised or horse-drawn cart tour and animal encounters although unfortunately most of the encounters have had to be put on hold due to COVID.

Upon arrival you have some time to wander around the small animal exhibits such as the meerkats, marmosets, servals and others before beginning your 2.5hr tour. This 207ha park is dedicated to conservation and is home to a myriad of exotic species such as hyenas, bongos, African wild dogs and giraffes to name a few.

Our lovely guide Sha was a font of information and food is thrown to some of the animals for a closer view. The enclosures are spacious and cater to each animal’s needs.

This is a labour of love, a private zoo that relies on private support and tourism so if you are in the area, please visit. You’ll be happy you did.

This zoo is probably the best zoo in NSW we have visited. The team at Altina have the interests of all animals top of mind. We loved being driven around on an open cart for 2 hours by our zoo guide. This guide was extremely informative and the close encounters with the animals were amazing, especially the giraffes, lions, African wild dogs and Hyenas. Their care of all animals is evident and their endangered species program is well appreciated. This zoo is highly recommended to lovers of all animals great and small.

We really enjoyed our second trip to Altina!! Due to the restrictions numbers were limited but in saying this it made it much more personal. The guided hoses and cart tour is very relaxing and the guide (who’s name I can’t recall) was so fun and full of knowledge of each and every animal! Our favourite would be the loins ... who are just so beautiful yet still very wild!
My only advice would be take a jacket it does get a little chilly in the afternoon as the sun goes behind the beautiful river gums!

An enjoyable and informative tour. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging - he was clearly attached to the creatures we saw. As a tragic ‘zoorist’, I never really expect a unique experience but was pleasantly surprised by the range of animals and quality of the tour. Complimentary afternoon tea (hot drinks and bikkies, with cold drinks for sale) and nicely priced souvenirs were well received by my family!

So this is our second visit here.
First time in 2019 loved it.
This time we were left with a not so positive impression.
We found the tour to rushed and most enclosures the animals were way too far away to be seen.
The host was in a rush and very minimal information was given.
Some enclosures she drove us by without a stop.
This brings me to my next topic.
The horse drawn carriage ride is what makes this tour so unique and special.
Driving us around on a trailer with Ute blowing up dust and driving like a maniac is awful.
Not the expectation nor what we paid for.
Now I don't want to hear it's because of Covid because that's bull.
A horse drawn tour would have been the same.
Someone will fall off the way this was driven the other day then your really going to be in some trouble.
Unfortunately it's come to a bad post such as this but it's how we felt especially driving up and back in 1 day for 500km to come enjoy what in the past was a hidden treasure

Hi we are extremely sorry you felt this way and wished you said something on the day so we could rectify any issues. Do you happen to know who you tour guide was? Everyone has the option of paying for a horse drawn cart but I’m guessing the price was out of your range this time? Horse drawn prices have increased due to Covid seeming we cannot social distance on a horse drawn cart if there is more than one family and the driver of the horse on the one cart therefore a price, no matter the number of people, per horse drawn cart. Either way the tour should not of been rushed and should still have been 2-2.5 hrs? If you can give us any more information from this day (date, time and tour guide) we would appreciate so we can make sure it does not happen again.

Good experience

Tour guides are experienced and friendly. Website or operator needs to explain to visitors that the gates open only 10 minutes prior to booked tour times. As it is a remote place and it was pretty disappointing to only find out about it upon arrival from the gate signage. Especially when we did arrive couple of hours in advance to "explore" or relax at a "cafe" or something. The website as of June 2022, only states bookings are essential...which makes a regular tourist assume that it only applied to the tour.

We did a beast feast special behind the scenes tour and then went back two days later to do the general tour. Well worth it, guides are knowledgeable and friendly and the animals can be seen quite closely. On the beast feast we got to feed lions and get them to go through their training and then on the regular tour, we got to feed goats and similar. Kids in the tour loved feeding the goats, they are quite gentle and don’t seem to bite fingers or anything. The animals seem well cared for and have nice large enclosures. Well worth a visit to this park.

Have seen the sign before, but today booked on the zoo tour with Shannon. Having spent a lot of time in Africa, I am not big on Zoos, but really big on species conservation and these guys are doing a great job. A great variety of animals, lots of space and they all are so healthy. It’s sad to think that there will be a time when a zoo might be the only place to see some of these beautiful animals, but it is real! Thoroughly recommend a visit if in the Griffith, Darlington Point, Leeton, Narrandera area👍👌

A fantastic tour with Ash. She was a wealth of information as she guided us around the park. In this zoo you are up close and personal with the animals watching them being fed - and this included lions and giraffes! And at the same time you are given information about how the animals came to be in the park, their breeding programs and how they are helping endangered species. I have never been in a zoo/wildlife park like this one. It was very special. Thanks Ash!
