The island-province of Camiguin is a pear-shaped volcanic island in the northern tip of Mindanao. It is approximately 90 kilometers north of the City of Cagayan de Oro. It is bounded to the north by Bohol Sea, to the west by Macajalar Bay, to the southeast by Gingoog Bay and to the east by Butuan Bay.

I traveled to many local airports in the Philippines but it was only camiguin airport that I have a horrible experience and I swear I will never go back to camiguin because of this bad experience.
regular security inspection machine etc was good until i arrived at the check in counter, personnel asked me weighed my small cabin hand carry small luggage and the result was 6.3 kgs so it was good then ( below 7kgs rule allowance) but my nightmare started when he asked me to weighed my small personal backpack where I put my personal stuff face and body and hygiene care etc ,
Ps: no clothes inside
And added the weight of my personal bag 2.3 kgs to my cabin luggage 6.3 kgs that’s makes a total of 9,6 kgs .
For many years of traveling to other destinations thru Cebu Pacific I was never asked to weighed my handcary shoulder bag or small backpack . Like other women we need a small second hand carry bag for our money IDs passports personal belongings etc.
Take note ! Only camiguin airport did that to me!!
Next he started telling me that a total of 7 kgs is only allowed for everything so he asked me to put the exceeding 2.6 kgs to check in, fortunately my sister was travelling with me so I had be able to out my 2,6 kgs in her check in baggage.
So I was obliged of taking out my personal stuff from my small backpack and my clothes from my cabin hand carry infront of everybody infront of check in counter, then put it inside the check baggage of my sister.
What a horrible experience! By the way this happened morning of today!
I promised myself I will never visit camiguin all my life ! Goodbye Ciao

Very disappointed. We weren’t able to go to Camiguin Island itself actually. We’re about to ride the RoRo but they can only accommodate 1 private vehicle per trip. So, that’s should be on a first-come first-serve basis. We’ve been there since the night before our trip so that we can enter the island as early as possible. We’re certain that we are the first private vehicle who got there. However, we weren’t able to grab the first trip because they prioritized those who are “residents” of Camiguin (even they arrived later than us) or if you know someone who will get you on the earliest trip. We’re very upset because we didn’t know that such thing exists. They said we can enter but on the 3rd trip which is very behind our schedule. We made an effort to be there the night before so that we can have the first trip and that happened to us. We drove 10 hours to get there and that happened to us. We will not complain if they’re being reasonable and gave us a fair treatment. The worse part is they only told us that we will not be able to ride the first trip after we went on the struggles of getting the tickets and completing their various requirements. All the efforts, time and energy were put to nothing because of their ridiculous service.

Required a QR code-vaccine card and all to enter the island! Really? November 2022? Ferry service ran 3 hours late. Transportation on the island is expensive. 1K-40 minutes by tricycle to get to our resort. Many nicer places to go in the Philippines with out all the "BS"

Very green and beautiful island, but not much of a beach scene. A little underwhelmed. White Beach sandbar is excellent for IG, but to swim and frolic? Not really... too rocky with white corals (not pure white sand). Mantigue Island was a little better. If you like waterfalls and scootering around, this is a island to do it. Not much of a party scene or central place where people gather. The 4th star was for the island's hospitable people; otherwise, 3 stars.

Visited wife's family and love the Island. Friendly people and places to see. Bought property as her whole family lives there. And she hasn't seen them 30 years. Love the hot springs. Just wish parents would teach their children not to litter and take away from the natural beauty, but a problem all over the Philippines. Gonna retire there away from the population in the mountains.

This is an island with a great vibe. Tourist friendly but not overrun, organized but relaxed, and good driving roads for popping around to visit attractions. The locals are friendly and there are some good places to eat- you can find vegetarian food too. Good place to stay for 3-4 nights.

I go every year. No nightclubs, no girlie bars - just nature. No drunks - just reefs (scuba and snorkel), waterfalls, hot cold and soda water springs, largest clams on the planet, floating restaurants, zip lines and so much more. Clean. No 5 stars. You must like water. Hard to get to but worth it. Cheap. Bring some basketballs to give to the local kids. They're all basketball mad but very poor. Like Bali before the tourists. No drugs (you'll get shot). Only downside - no surf beaches but I live on the beach in OZ so no biggie.

Camiguin is an island most Filipinos heard of but never been to. When i got the chance to go to Camiguin I don't know what to expect because i just know that it is an island north of Mindanao main island. Now I know much more about the island province as I have been there 3x already. I can't wait for my 4th visit to Camiguin, I hope it would be soon.
The province with just an area of about 29,000 hectares has 7 volcanoes, yet it is inhabited by more than 75,000 people who must feel safe sleeping on top of a natural bomb. Whaaaat? Yes, beacause the island is truly a paradise! Must be worth it.
People think that it is just an alternative to Boracay, Bohol, Palawan and other beach destinations. That island province has it own charms and wonders. It boasts of a hot spring (Ardent Hot Spring) which is 15 mins. away from a cold spring (Sto. Nino) which is 10 mins. away from a waterfalls (Katibawasan Falls) which is 20 mins. away from the "sunken cemetery" which is 10 mins. to another hot spring which is 20 mins. by boat from a white beach that is actually a sand bar. Yes, all of those are near to each other. Cool!!! You have to go to several provinces to experience all that but not in Camiguin as they are all rolled into 1 small island.
It also owns the world record of the most number of volcanoes as per square kilometer in an island. Hiking enthusiasts may traverse its numerous trails. One can travel its circumferential road in just 1 hr. through a motorbike which is available for rent for only 500 pesos per day.
One should never leave Camiguin without tasting the yummy Pastel (a small bread filled with a sinful and calorie laden yema) available at Vjandep Bakery.
To get to Camiguin from Manila:
1. Fly to Cagayan de Oro City (at least 3 airlines are offering flights from Manila)
2. From the airport you take a taxi to Agora bus station in downtown CDO
3. Bus from Agora station to Balingoan pier
4. Ferry from Balingoan to Benoni town in Camiguin
4. Multicab, jeep or van from Benoni to your accommodation

Camiguin was our first destination during our 3-day tour in Mindanao. Upon arrival at the Lumbia Airport in CDO around nine o'clock in the morning, we immediatey headed to Balingoan Port via a Corolla Altis. After approximately 2 hours of land travel, we waited in the Balingoan Seaport for our one hour sail via RORO to Benoni Port, the gateway of Camiguin, where Kuya Frank Pojas, our tourguide/ driver was waiting for us.We arrived in the Island at two oclock in the afternoon which was late for an island tour. We met Kuya Frank at the arrival area and explained right away what would our itineray be to maximize the rest of the day. Our first stop, Sto. Nino Cold Spring, relieved us from sticky feeling got from the long hours of travel. We stayed there only for an hour so we could visit more attractions. Old Church Ruins, Sunken Cemetery, Walkway and Station of the Cross were for picture taking only that took only 15mins in each site so we could reach the cut-off for the White Island which was 5pm. Fortunately, through the fast but careful driving of Kuya Frank, we had reached the pier for boat going to the White Island. It was a fantastic sandbar with a background of Mt. Hibok-Hibok. It was a feeling I could not explain seeing the beauty of Camiguin's nature plus the romantic view of the sunset. If we only knew how beautiful it was, we should have had got there earlier for a longer stay. At night, after checking-in at Pabua's cottages which was very near in Paras Beach, we went to Ardent Hot Spring soothe our tired body and there we had our dinner. In the next early morning (6am), Kuya Frank fetched us to bring us to Katibawas Falls where we had fun taking pictures since we were the one of the first visitors. For an hour, we played the water as if were back as kids. Immediately from there, we had to go back to Benoni for the 8:15 ferry trip to meet he 12:30pm Bukidnon tour.

Our family was on an extended stay in Bohol, Philippines and we began discussing a simple one night stay on Camiguin Island. By the way, we have a view of Camiguin from where we were staying on Bohol. We found, with the ferry schedules, we would be spending more time travelling with significant lack of sleep than the total time on Camiguin enjoying the sites. This is due to the cancellation of recent ferry service directly to the island. Available ferries leave Bohol and go to the Island of Mindinao and from there you take ground transport to another port and then, using vessel transportation, actually backtrack to Camiguin.

You may try Agohay Beach Resort, it's beach front hotel, though you won't enjoy the beach in there. I all the others since it's a fishing dock....you may look at the photos I shared. There is Paras that most vacationist refer a bit pricey than Agohay you may go directly with their site or try to look at Agoda.

There are already commercial flights of cebu pacific and philippine airline which flies daily via cebu

Hi! Husband and I are planning to visit Camiguin island and we are bringing our toodlers: 3 and 2 yrs old. I just wonder if we could bring them to white island and mantigue. Is it safe for them to ride the motorized banca? Thanks...

Hi, Good evening! Yes you can take them with you on both islands. Each banca have life jacket which you are required to use while on board. You just pay the banca 450php plus 20php/pax environmental fee. Banca can only accommodate 6 people. You can rent snorkle gears nor life jackets for swimming. Your kids will love it. Have fun!
