Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hike took my husband and I about 80 minutes. We could have done it in about 50 but spent so much time enjoying and photographing the amazing scenery. For the first 30 minutes, it kept getting better and better. We then enjoyed several other amazing views and lookout points. It was easy to moderate with the only part that might be challenging being the rocky area (at most a fifth of a mile) . I appreciate how well marked the trail was! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy the natural beauty of Terceira.

This coastal trail has been recommended to us since our first day of staying in Terceira, as the most spectacular coastal walk on the island.
In fact, it offers exciting views of the central part of the north coast, because it runs just along the edge of the cliff for a long stretch, allowing the hiker to observe its black basalt formations, made even more dramatic by the waves that fall on them .
Cliff rocks often assume the characteristic shape of hexagonal prisms, also called "organo canes", which indicate a fast lava's cooling process; But there are many more morphological features of lava rocks, which allow almost a journey into volcanology.
The path, though - as I have said - ofter runs near the edge of the cliff, is never dangerous: where the cliff is very close, thick bushes prevent the hiker from reaching the edge itself (of course you should not try to overcome these bushes).
The description of the trail, both on the web and on the leaflets distributed at the tourist information boards, proceeds from the east trailhead towards the west; So it is best follow the trail in that way.
The trail (as opposed to others in the Azores) doesn't form a ring: it starts from the coastal highway R1-1 and finally returns to this highway, but at a much more western point (ie, at the junction with the so-called "Canada dos Baleeiros"). So the ideal way is to get to the trailhead using the public bus line no. 3, Praia da Vitoria - Biscoitos and vice versa (easy bus changes also from travelers coming from / to Angra do Heroismo)
Based on our experience, however, we recommend that you carefully check the exact get-off stop. Unfortunately, we were not very careful about that, and by mistake the Praia-Biscoitos bus driver dropped us off 15 Km. before the right stop (the right stop is near the place called "Pico dos Loiros"). We had then to look for a taxi that would take us further west, up to the trailhead, and we lost more than an hour.
Luckily, the day was sunny and rewarded us for the hassle suffered!

Such a beautiful hike with incredible views of the coast. The trail head classifies the trail as easy but I would consider it medium. Well worth it though. If you are not into hiking there are some drive-able to view points, many of the hotels and tourist companies offer a map that would show where the viewpoints are.

We were at this spot for about 40 minutes. In that time we saw rain, fog and complete clarity. It is one of the most beautiful spots on the Island.

This a nice hike that isn’t too long and goes from grassy a grassy field to coast line and back inland. There are a couple of formal lookout points you could drive to and not do the hike. There are areas that you can get quite close to the edge of cliffs so always be aware (esp with those selfie sticks!) I recommend wearing long pants as some areas of the trail are narrow and you will brush up against branches and potentially thorned plants. This was the case with all of the hikes we did (Monte Brasil and Rocha do Chambre as well).

Beautiful hiking route along the cliffs. The route is short and not very difficult but the correct clothing and equipment is required . Totally worth it.

We took bus 3 from Biscoitos to the start of this trail. We were happily surprised that the bus stopped right at the start (unlike other trails on the island). The trail takes you from meadows to the sea and back. Along the way there are some beautiful viewpoints where you can see the waves bash into the cliffs. At certain points you have the option to decent the cliffs, but this is very challenging and possibly dangerous. Nonetheless I gave them a go, while my girlfriend watched from a distance with fear in her eyes for my safety. After you leave the seaside, you take some overgrown trails which tickle your legs a lot. Because the trail is rather short, we decided to extend it and walk further towards the town Quatro Ribeiras. Here we ate our lunch and waited for the bus back to Biscoitos.

This route goes to the coast, at a few viewpoints and back between the meadows to the main road. The views are beautiful as well as the peacefulness of the meadows and cows on them.
It takes around 3 hours, you don't get to any beach on the way, but you're passing a surfing spot and just a lot of views from the cliffs.
