This library was founded in 1704 in accordance with the will of Dr Thomas Plume. It holds a very impressive number of books totalling 8000. This is a private library, but the books may be viewed during normal opening hours, well worth a visit.

The library is situated on top of the old church and is not easy to get to via a side door and a winding staircase. However, if you are interested in old books then it is well worth the effort

Thomas Plume's library is situated at the top of Market Hill in Maldon. There are exhibitions of Maldon and things of interest going back over many years. There is a little gift section and I found it very interesting to look back in time.

This is well worth a visit - very interesting and very helpful and friendly staff. We thought at first that the building was a church. We enjoyed the tapestry along with the other exhibits. We also bought some Maldon salt in their shop!
