One pub had a pretty bog-standard pub menu which didn't reflect the maritime nature of the area - the other had a wide choice of sea-food.

We walked for an hour or so along the waterway of the basin, pretty views and places to stop for drinks/food, not as busy as other areas on this coast, will visit again.

A mildly attractive spot with plenty of walks along flat terrain, and enough visual interest in water and boating activities to pass a few hours. A place which is, generally, far from the maddening crowd - unless it's holiday time!

Or you go to Maldon Promenade Park on the other side of the river. They have a nice lake for crabbing and model boats.
