A quiet place, underestimated. Nice to relax, and now even better with the Tiptree tea room. The river view is splendid, the old lock very interesting. You may be asked by the skippers to help work it.

Good selection of food and drinks. Nicely cooked and well presented. Staff are friendly and it is in a nice location especially for a walk or cycle ride.

Free car park leading straight onto path with a lovely walk all around the estuary and down the side of the canal. Plenty of boats, barges, birds, flowers to see, with many photographic opportunities. Very flat and even walk with sea, estuary and canal views.

A good place to go for a relaxing walk along the rive. Interesting lock and two pubs and a cafe for eating and drinks. Also peaceful boat trips along the river if required.

Or you go to Maldon Promenade Park on the other side of the river. They have a nice lake for crabbing and model boats.
