Three places to eat and drink. The tea room run by Wilkins (the Tiptree Jam people) serve tea, cakes and wine right next to the water. The Ship is right by the lock and you can eat and watch the boats go through the lock...More

The Heybridge basin is a good venue for walkers, cyclists or just a nice place to relax. With two pubs offering food of a reasonable standard and wonderful views regardless of the season. Easily accessable with good parking.

If the answer's yet, then you won't be disappointed. With a canal joining the river, and a marina, this place is packed full of boats of all sizes. You'll also find nice sea wall walks and a couple of friendly pubs.

Loads of Boats to look at. A lovely pub close by that does food. We have not been in it though. A nice walk up the canal is good for you but take insect repellent.

You really should separate the two pubs and one tea room, all good in their respective ways, but very different. The Basin is one of the Hidden gems of Essex which many people seem to know about. You either love it or not. Its main...More

Heybridge Basin used to be a typical quaint little backwater but has now been spoiled by the influx of new housing estates. Locals have been forced out by the rise in house prices, this has totally ruined what once was a delightful little haven

Or you go to Maldon Promenade Park on the other side of the river. They have a nice lake for crabbing and model boats.
