Lovely church in Murano that was built in the 14th century. Not real ornate but Lovely inside. Has beautiful Murano chandeliers everywhere. If you’re passing by drop in.

Many people come here to see some Bellini and Tintoretto, and worth a look they are too. What I personally found more impressive were the wood carvings in the sacristy, depicting the life of St John the Baptist, and the sculptures that punctuate them. Very...More

The current church was completed in 1511, at the site of the original church, which in turn, was built in 1348. This is a Roman Catholic church, built as a classical basilica: three parallel naves, with tall Renaissance-style windows and a large rosette on the...More

This church is more intimate than most Italian churches. It has a hanging crucifix that is topped by an interesting crown, a symbolism I have seen in no other churches.

This church turned out very special, but so much of what one sees in the region does. I have seen Murano chandeliers before, and saw some of the most magnificent modern versions during "Glass Week" just now. But I strongly recommend spending more than a...More

This is a sample of beautiful architecture, thought provoking church with a very wide nave and impressive glass chandeliers, more than likely donated by the glass-blowers of the island of Murano.
