Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Views on a good day are fantastic and yes we had a day where the weather was perfect. But you need to be aware of a few issues. First that there are thousands of tourists the crowds are large, second there 398 concrete steps some very uneven and third if you are a female there is only 1 x toilet up near the temple so the wait is horrendous, so stay hydrated but not too hydrated! We enjoyed our time but the Japanese government has had four years to look into the tourist issues they identified pre-covid but it appears that nothing has been done.

Arakurayama Sengen Park was another stop on our trip around Mount Fuji. We walked up the steps in order to capture the iconic photo of Chureito Pagoda and Mount Fuji. It was an extremely hot and humid September day, but we made it to the viewing spot. Unfortunately, Mount Fuji was hidden by clouds, as it is most of the time. Crowds were not as bad as other reviews have mentioned. We were there on a Friday morning.

Mikuni's first mountain, Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is located here. After visiting the sacred grounds of Arakurayama, I drew a fortune and got a lucky one! I challenged myself to climb the 398 stone steps of the Sakuyahime Stairs. I can't see the five-story pagoda without climbing these steps. There are many foreigners and many different languages are flying around. Is it summer? Is it winter? It feels strange. Anyway, I climbed up and down and was soothed by Mt. Fuji.

A great place to visit and probably best shots of Mt Fuji, the start is around 10 minutes from the station, easily signposted. It is then a straight walk up over 400 stairs, hard going to get to the pagoda but well worth it. You can carry on up to a panoramic area, about another 60 steps. Fantastic views all around the mountain. Toilet facilities on site, no admission charges

From Kawaguchiko station, take a train to Shimoyoshida Station (about 15 mins). Then you can walk to the Arakura Sengen Shrine which take around 10-15 mins. The most painful part is you have to walk up the 400 steps to the pagoda. I recommend to go there early morning so you can see Mt. Fuji clearly. I saw many elderly locals walk/run up and down the hill for exercise!!

I went there late May 2013, the weather is a bit cold in the morning. I got great shots of Mt. Fuji from this place as after 9AM it was covered with clouds.

It a bit more difficult to reach as the attraction is not right in front of the train station, you'll have to walk a little bit to reach this park. Once you reached Kawaguchiko station, you'll have to take another train to reach Shimo-yoshida station to reach here(Pasmo accepted). Luckily, signs are plentiful here, if not, just follow the crowd. While i was there, there was only a few clouds covering Mt. Fuji, but as i continued to wait there (about 1 hour more), it was completely revealed and turned out to be an amazing sight. If you walked a bit further up from the pagoda viewing point (where all the postcards come from), there's a small shack where you can view the mountain at it's full glory without any trees or buildings to hinder it.

We took a bus tour that departed from Ueno by bus. This is highly recommended. The walk up the shrine took about 20 minutes including stops for breathtaking photos. Weather was great too so we got some awesome shots.

This is THE photo. Once you've seen this everything else pales in comparison. You should go there. I went there. It was awesome. It was only a couple of days ago and I still haven't seen anything better. Maybe I never will. If you see anything better let me know.

Climb three hundred and sixty over steps to reach the midway of this park to catch this awesome postcard scene. It is no easy feat, takes some determination, and a good shoe. The steps get really slippery when wet. Elderly might not be able to make the top as it requires some stamina.
However, its is rewarding for the view of mount fuji at the top

Husband and I visited today, 8th of March.
Got off at Shimoyoshida Station ~0815am from Fujikyu Highland Station. Weather was sunny but cold. Took us about 15 min to walk the start of of the park.
Theres a winding way to the Chureito Pagoda or steps. We walked up the stairs ~15min and went down by the winding road.
Mt Fuji views at every step up the pagoda, it's worth a visit. Theres also a food truck midway.
It's really peaceful here except an hour or two later we experienced heaps of people start to arrive, some talk loudly others even scream between each other. Otherwise it's a must do when you're in the area.
