The shrine itself is not the main attraction there. No one is allowed inside so most tourists go for the view of Mount Fuji while locals hike up for daily exercise,

This place was breathtaking. We arrived late at night in December 2018 when the temperature was about -2 degree Celsius. We slept in the car in the parking lot near the pagoda (bundled up with clothes and blankets). There was a clean bathroom nearby. We...More

The location is the reason to visit. Probably one of the most photographed pagodas in Japan, with Mt Fuji in the background. A very steep climb of 400 steps, or a slightly less steep track to one side. About 15-20 mins walk from Shimoyoshida rail...More

Unfortunately we arrived when it was cloudy and rainy so were unable to view Mt. Fuji. We had a delightful late afternoon walk up the stairs to the pagoda and then took the winding path down through the forest. Very invigorating walk, probably absolutely gorgeous...More

enjoyed the climb great exercise. However so annoying many people just stood there and blocked the view so others couldn't get to see the view... Walk higher up the hill to get a better view.. glad there was toilet near by.

All I can say is that this place is the most photographed location in Japan for good reason. Every year, thousands of people make the steep hike up of about 400 steps just to get that picture perfect moment of Mt Fuji with the beautiful...More

One of the best place to get a view at Fujisan. Just 400 small steps up the hill, and you’ll get the picture perfect view of the beautiful snow-capped Fuji right in front of you. Advisable to go before sun rise. Not so many people...More

We were here in March and found this iconic photo op Cureito pagoda. Best time to visit is March to view the cherry blossoms, Mt Fuji and vibrant red pagoda. It’s beautiful and majestic!

This is a place worth seeing. We arrived to Kawaguchi in a foggy day and Mt. Fuji was hidden, but still decided to go. The view of the pagoda, the city, the trees and everything is so beautiful. You have to be prepared to climb...More
