A little-known panda sanctuary and research centre in a beautiful, calm city. You can get here by bus but ask your hotel staff which one and hopefully they can help because it seems not many locals are aware of this place (sorry I've forgotten the bus number). You can tell the pandas here are well looked after and there is... More

We registered a year in advance to be a Panda Keeper for the day. It was great to work up close with the Pandas and learn more about them in their backyard!

The volunteer experience was pretty cool and worth doing. A lifetime dream of sweeping up panda poop has now been fulfilled. It was special to get to see the pandas up close and help feed them. The option to get picture taken for a ‘donation’ was cool but very rushed.

Also booked via Robert Hui of China Highlights Had very professional guide (Jason) and Driver . He Knew the staff very well and we got stuck into poo collecting and bamboo distributing Agree the feeding is far more intimate than having a photo taken with one. Gave a lovely sensitive way of viewing these lovely creatures I think we were... More

I volunteered here for the day. I hired a car to bring me from Chengdu and I used a tour guide to help me sign up to volunteer. While many people (on my day it was about 30) people volunteer each day, they split you into small groups and assign you to a keeper and panda. My keeper Mr. Strong... More

This was definitely a highlight of our trip. Robert Hiu at China Highlights Tour Company (robert@chinahighlights.net) pre-arranged for us to volunteer for the day. He arranged a guide, van, and driver to take us the 1.5 hours from Chengdu to this great facility. Kids 12 and over can help as well. We prepared bamboo and were able to help feed... More

This facility is what they call the Panda Ark. It's larger then the Panda Valley. They house more pandas and also have a few red pandas which are really cool. Also for a high price you can hug a panda and feed a panda for a few minutes and take photos. Well worth it. Plus the money is a donation... More

The CCRCGP is the research center and they currently (April 2016) offer an expensive but so worth it option of having your photo taken with a young panda. You need to book in advance. You have to dress up in a protective plastic coat and gloves and you only get a few minutes to have your photo taken but I... More
