we visit this place regurlarly, since we live nearbye. It's a very authentic , quiet place a absolutely worth a visit ; and you can walk there anytime. Lier is a lovely little town with lots to see or do, only 15 kms from Antwerp

We had a nice stroll of about half an hour through the desolate streets of the 'begijnhof'. Time stood still here. You can the feel history.

The Begijnhof is a very evocative place to wander around. It's quiet and prompts some contemplation of old life and old values. It's generally peaceful.

Interesting thought the concept and history of this is, it is undergoing some seemingly very gradual restoration.

A lot of people I know havent heard of where Lier is, and so they are missing on the Begijnhof as well. I love that this part of town is well restored and maintained. It is always a lovely and peaceful walk around the place.

The old town of Lier with its cobbled streets and historic buildings is well worth a visit. Many of the buildings are beautifully preserved and give a real sense of what the town would have been like hundreds of years ago.

There are road works happening. Not so nice to visit now (dec 2015). However take the pallieterrote as a hiking tour. It passes via the begijnhof
