- Jim HEurope3,947 contributionsGorgeous Views and PeacefulZvernec Monastery is located on Narta Lagoon. I walked from Vlore, but about 20 minutes with a car. You will be able to see marine life in the lagoon: fish, crabs and some flamingos if you're lucky. The monastery is very well maintained, beautiful and peaceful. Make sure you visit the nearby naval bunker, fire control bunker, lighthouse, beaches- all with beautiful views. Most visitors miss these places.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 March 2024

Not unattarctive, but the drone shots really flatter it. There's not a lot else in this neck of the words so if you're looking to kill an hour or so go for it. Orthodox Monastery, once Greek but today Albanians insist it's Albanian Orthodox even clearly you can see Greek letters on building. Nice hour tour. Behind wooden bridge on the way to monestery, you can see bunker facing monestery.... is it there to protect monestery or... I was searching for similar bunker in front of the mosque in the Vlore center.Couldn't see one

Suggestive place, to be visited possibly at sunset, but taking into account that the monastery closes around 6.00 pm.
The walk along the wooden walkway (once straight and with a parapet, now curved and without protection) across the lagoon is pleasant, although the wooden planks are worn and in some places dangerous.
Unfortunately, as in many sites visited in Albania, the beauty of the landscape is penalized by people's carelessness: the lagoon is dotted with rubbish of all kinds and in some places it is smelly.

The road isn’t good. 2 cars are challenging.
If you go in the summer, you’ll get a lot of sweat. They receive a set number of people to the abbey and you cannot sign in until they leave. There’s not much to see inside. 1 time just to have seen, you can go beyond that unnecessary.

An island on a lagoon reachable by a wooden bridge that can only be crossed on foot. This is the place on which stands a small monastery enriched with splendid mosaics. A small oasis of peace in an Albania increasingly crowded with tourists

The road to it is bumpy, narrow with potholes here and there😵💫 Nice to walk over the jetty to the monastery. It says not to take photos, but a kindly old supervisor gave his permission to take a photo. We thanked it was not necessary.
The water is not deep and people were catching crabs. We also saw 2 brides who were going to do a photo shoot there.
It's a pity that there is a lot of waste in the water / on land, as you see a lot throughout Albania, which is a shame!
Definitely worth driving there

The small island covered in pines, hosts a 13th century byzantine Monastery of St. Mary. To get to the monastery you have to follow a wooden bridge (270 meters). Ambient interior. The whole area is very picturesque, especially at sunset.

Very small monastery at the end of the bridge, beautiful monastery, but seen at Max 10 min. There is information about the place at the beginning of the bridge, otherwise there is no information.
However, the bridge alone is worth the trip, despite dirty and scented water.

Можно ли на острове купить сувениры и албанское вино?
Written 30 August 2019

Io ci andrò in agosto. Grazie mille.
