We drove up the track not knowing if we were really on the right path. We eventually got there and the ruins are interesting but no real effort has been made to explain the ruins to visitors. With a little investment in information boards, the...More

There's barly something left from the acropolis, but if you have the time - it's a nice drive up the hill, and a short path will lead you to a very nice view! Two trails lead from there to either Sami or Antisamos beach

The acropolis of Sami is not as grand maybe as one might think. What struck me though was the great views and the silence and solitude. Leaving a crowded beach, it was soothing to be alone with the hills and the sky. And the herd...More

If you have or will visit other ancient sites in Greece, this might be rather underwhelming. There is a view over the water, but it didn't do much for us.

If you like history, this is a must see site. I was really surprised at the scale of the monument. It could do with more explanatory signs, and clearing of paths etc, but we have to accept that Greece hasn't got a lot of money...More

Well worth going up here for the views alone. There are also a reasonable amount of walls, stones - enough to give a sense of what was there. Lovely, quiet atmosphere, too.

Called in here on our walk. A hard climb up and not a lot to see in terms of ruins but the views from the top are stunning which make it worthwhile.

We didn't know about it when we passed close to it and saw the sign. We're glad that we stopped. It's a great experience with breathtaking views!

Well worth the trip, up a slightly harum scarum road, to see the fabulous views over Kefalonia. Wear sensible footwear however, and take a sunhat.

There is a good path from Sami to the ruins (Fanentes monastery) and then to Sami acropolis. Enter the website topoguide.gr, got to Regions/Ionian islands/Kefalonia topic and look for the "Sami-acropolis of Sami" trail. Or... More
