This is a very simple and relatively large church with very simple design. It is in the center of the village and it is surrounded by a well maintained and peaceful cemetery. The inside is also very peaceful and mystic, with good stained glass.
The largest such in Norway, we stopped and visited on the way back to Flam from Osterbo Mountain Farm, an excursion from our Viking Ocean Cruise.
Dating back to the 13th century, this is a must see and not often found on a tourist itinerary.
The main parish church in the Aurland district is small, but impressive early Gothic building made from a white stone. It was built at the beginning of the 13th century and completely restored in the 19th century. Great sight in the wonderful surrounding!
