We had a week in Sissi in September, it was our first time in Crete. We had a wonderful time. It was made extra special by a trip out on the Ferryman Boat. There are plenty of boat trips I’m sure, but if you want something a little less commercial and more personal then this is for you. There’s opportunity for swimming in beautiful clear blue waters, visiting ancient ruins on uninhabited islands and you can even take the helm of the boat and play at being the Captain. This is topped off by a feast of a BBQ washed down with a nice cold beer and plenty of raki on a secluded beach. A massive thanks to our friend Cavan for recommending this trip and thank you to both the crew who were very entertaining. Definitely one of the highlights of our holiday!!

Manolis (the captain) provided an excellent service - on boarding we received a cake (or two) and he took us on a trip round Psira Island allowing us to get close to this astounding island and the blue Aegean that surrounds it. At the end of the trip around the island he allowed to disembark on a stony beach adjacent to some ancient Minoan Ruins and gave us a time when he would return to pick us up. It was an idyllic 4 hours on an uninhabited island where we picniced with friends, swam in crystal clear seas and, some of the party, explored the island. He returned right on schedule and once we were underway allowed some of the party to pilot the boat while he brought round some excellent local Raki (its more powerful than you think ...) and fresh fruit. It's certainly worth considering as a wonderful afternoon out.
